Stop Scavenging For Your Customers And Attract Them to You

Its said that 97% of all Internet business endeavors fail miserably within the first year of operation. The reason for this massive failure rate is nothing more than a lack of education. People do not spend the time necessary researching effective marketing techniques. They go into their business without understanding how to run it - and they fail. That's the bottom line.

Internet businesses are real businesses in every way. Millions of people join MLM programs every year. They're motivated. They are sure that they will be the next Internet millionaire. And then they fail. They don't understand why. They tried and they tried to attract visitors to their sites and convert them. After spending thousands of dollars in hundreds of hours of effort, they give up defeated like a whipped dog.

If you want to experience success on the Internet, you have to stop trying so hard to attract other people. Make yourself attractive instead. Give them what they want. Then they will flock to you. Learn the techniques of Attraction Marketing:

1) Attraction Marketing techniques make the customer come to you. That way they feel no pressure to buy, join, sign up or take any other action at all.

2) Internet surfers are looking for valid and relevant information. They want to learn things. The foundation of Attraction Marketing is to supply them with that information.

o Establish yourself as an expert

o Provide fresh, accurate and relevant information

o Don't make them feel pressured

3) Employ strategies utilizing web 2.0 technologies.

o You have to do your research. There are as many ineffective marketing techniques as there are effective ones. Weed them out.

o Blogging, article submission, Squidoo lenses, social networking and forum posting are great topics to start your research on.

4) Implement a system so that your prospects can get to know and trust you.

5) Make yourself and readily available so that they can easily contact you when they are ready.

6) Don't expect overnight results. Developing passive income is a procedure that you must commit to for the long run.

7) Advertise, Advertise, and Advertise! Get your name everywhere on the Internet that you possibly can. Use offline marketing techniques as well. Live your business. Be your business.

Remember always that the foundation of Attraction Marketing is the provision of valuable information for people to learn from. This establishes you as a trusted expert in their minds. Plant the seeds of trust and then fertilize them so that they can grow into strong entities. Attract your prospects to you. Don't chase them. This way, when you are contacted, it is from pre-sold prospects that are ready to join your already trusted program. Prosper!

Email Marketing

Internet marketing by using email is really no secret--we've all seen it in our own email inboxes. It is a form of direct marketing that uses emails to communicate with potential customers. Email marketing has been in use since email began and has proven to be an easy, effective, and inexpensive advertising method. It's so popular that estimates indicate companies within the United States alone spent $400 million on email marketing in 2006.

Broadly, email marketing could refer to any email sent to potential customers. However, there are a few things that set certain emails apart as true email marketing. Emails that are categorized as real email marketing do one of the following:

--Improve and enhance the relationship between the business and their customers so that repeat business is encouraged.

--Attract new customers.

--Convince past customers to make a purchase.

--Include advertisements for companies other than the one that is sending the email.

There are many advantages to email marketing. For one thing, it allows businesses to quickly and easily reach a large number of customers through a mailing list. Sending email is also much more economical than sending print advertisements, and the results of the advertising can be easily tracked through the use of the links in the email.

Email marketing is also an instantaneous form of advertising that needn't wait on print schedules. An email advertisement can be sent with just a click of the mouse, so businesses can react very quickly to new trends and changes in the market.

One aspect of email marketing that is increasing its popularity among both businesses and consumers is that it is environmentally friendly. There's no need to cut down trees for paper and, therefore, no paper to fill up the landfills. If a customer doesn't want the advertisement, they click the delete button.

Though there are many advantages to using email marketing, there are also some disadvantages. The biggest and best-known disadvantage is spam. Unfortunately, before acts like the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 that prohibit the use of spam, many companies sent unsolicited bulk emails to everyone and anyone. As a result, Internet users found their inboxes flooded with ads they didn't want. In response to those spam emails, Internet users weren't reading any of the email ads they received--even the legitimate ones.

Because of the early use of spam, companies are still trying to rebuild the reputation of email marketing. Today, marketers who violate the CAN-SPAM Act are subject to an $11,000 fine for each individual receiving a spam email. To help ensure compliance with this act, many marketers choose to use specialized software to help them follow the law.

There are service providers who will assist businesses with setting up their email marketing campaigns to remain in compliance with laws. These services include email templates and handle the subscriptions and removals of individuals from the mailing list. They also provide their clients with information about the number of messages that were actually opened and how many individuals actually clicked on the links contained in the messages.

The use of opt-in lists has greatly helped to reduce spam. Visitors to a website can choose to register to receive email messages from the business. This is called "opting-in." These customers can also remove themselves from the list when they no longer wish to receive messages from the company. Using an opt-in list not only helps the customer avoid unwanted email, it also helps the company to ensure they remain in compliance with anti-spam laws.

All in all, email marketing can be an exceptional way to draw new and repeat customers to a business. However, businesses that choose to create an email marketing campaign must be familiar with the regulations surrounding the use of email for advertising purposes. The penalties for violating the law are steep, and sending spam email will serve to alienate more customers than it will ever attract.

Is Your E-Marketing Making an Impact?

Do you know what post-click tracking is, and why it is one of the most effective techniques for measuring the Return on Investment of your E-marketing efforts?

For those who are not familiar with post-click tracking, you are probably a bit tired of hearing marketing professionals use similar terms that leave you nothing but confused. Let me give you a very simple definition of post-click tracking and show you why it can be very valuable.

Post-Click Tracking is a method by which you, the site owner, can track the users movements and activities on your website. To get this information, you will need to install a small file, known as a cookie, on the users computer. The purpose of this file is to gather, and return to you, identifying information about the user including the pages on your site that they have visited and any purchases that they have made.

That's really all there is to it, in terms of a definition. Sure, implementation is not simple. However, keep in mind that once you establish a tracking system the logistics happen automatically.

How Does this Help to Maximize RIO Measurement?

In general, if you are not already using this technique there is a good chance that you aren't measuring the ROI for your e-marketing. Therefore, implementing a cookie-based post-click tracking system will give you the information that you need!

Let's face it, when you are promoting a new website, or a new online service, you need to know whether it is worth the investment. This is a simple technique for finding out how many people are visiting your site and what they do once they get there. Here are some of the other things that you can determine through this technique:

* Are users easily finding the information that they need on your site? Or, is critical information located in an area of your site that users cannot get it in three clicks or less.
* Are users getting frustrated and clicking away from your site?
* Do you have advertising to outside sites that is more attractive to users than the information that you are providing?
* Are many users reviewing information about your products or services and deciding not to purchase them? Perhaps this will allow you to rethink your site text and the way in which you are framing your products or services.

Now that you know what Post-Click Tracking can give you

Let's look at how you can get it set up on your site.

The easiest way to implement this measurement device for your website is to either purchase a tracking software or to hire an e-marketing specialist, who has what it takes to get your tracking system up and running with little time or hassle. Your web hosting provider may actually also offer solutions for tracking your site traffic, so checking out their service listing might also be a good place to start.

Video Marketing- Stop Wasting Time and Money with Adwords

Internet marketers from all over the planet are discovering a new method of promotion. Finally, there is an alternative to expensive pay-per-click campaigns. It's called video marketing. It's new. It's on fire! It's a readily available method to generate an endless source of powerful leads. Let's take a closer look:

1 When you're in business, branding means just about everything. Video marketing is an excellent way to brand yourself and your business. When people get to see you and hear you talk, they get to know you. They get to experience your emotions with you. That is priceless.

2 Video marketing creates a bridge between the potential consumers and yourself. It builds trust. Unlike pay-per-click advertising, it lets them know that they are dealing with real human beings that care enough to present themselves in person.

3 Marketing yourself or your business by video on social networks like MySpace, Facebook and YouTube has the potential for mass appeal. Together, these three entities alone get 50,000,000 hits a day!

Internet marketers who wish to engage in a campaign of video advertising need to pay attention to the following details:

1 Remember that you're marketing a business. Hold your posture up right. Speak clearly and read from a prepared script don't just wing it. Use correct language and professional terminology. Show that you're confident. It's only for about 3 minutes; you can do it.

2 Take advantage of the fact that you are engaging in marketing. Be enthusiastic! Nobody will give even 3 minutes of their time to watch a boring video produced by a stick in the mud.

3 Create a sense of urgency to explore your product or products further. You want every viewer to end up that your site.

4 Put some thought into howl you produce the video itself. A backdrop is always nice. Choose a decent camcorder for good video quality. Also, make sure that your production environment is quiet and uninterrupted during filming.

5 Diversify your efforts. Don't simply put out one video and leave at that. Create multiple videos and release them on various social networking entities. Maximize your exposure. This is what promotion is all about!

So there you have it a crash course in video marketing! Start exploring. Start researching more. Start experimenting with video creation. Like anything else, your skills will improve the repetition. Project yourself to the world through video marketing and grow rich!

Advertising Your Home Based Business

In order for any business to be successful, you must have customers or clients that are interested in buying what you have to offer. Even though you have gone to the trouble of creating a website, printing business cards and setting up an office space in your home, if you do not attract any customer, you will not be able to make a profit. When starting a business, you should prepare a short business plan that explains how you plan to build a customer base and how you plan on satisfying their needs.

Every good business needs a steady stream of customers in order to succeed. Before you even decide to go into business for yourself, you should see what your local market needs and then see if there is room for your product on the Internet. If there is a demand for your goods and services, then you should proceed. If not, then you may need to rethink what it is you want to do. Research online careers to see if there are any that interest you. You may find one or two that sound promising. Once you determine there is a market, then you should go to the next step which is to build a website.

Your website does not have to be large but it should be large enough to include all the information needed for visitors to make purchases or find out more about your services. You should be prepared to update your site once a month and add new content. This can include pictures, articles, blogs and other items that are useful to customers. You should also include a sign in box where visitors can enter their email address so you can send them additional information.

Once you have a website, phone line and business cards, then you are ready to advertise your business. You should advertise both online and offline. Take out ads in local newspapers, community bulletin boards and other local advertising spots. Online, you should join forums, create a blog, send coupons, updates and other information to those on your mailing list, and write a few press releases and articles for database sites. These marketing tools will help you increase the amount of people that visit your site.

Marketing is the best way to attract people to your website. By actively marketing to different groups of people, you will begin to see your income increase. Once you have a steady stream of clients, you will not have to advertise so aggressively but you should maintain your blog, place ads on websites and search engines to increase your web rank and overall Internet exposure. Because the Internet is growing, you will have to find more ways to make your business stand out from the rest.

Through word of mouth, email lists and providing excellent customer service, you will be able to expand your business and continue working from home for as long as you want. There are very few limitations to what you can do with your business.

Building A Successful Marketing Network

Building a business or creating a successful marketing network is an equal portion of art, science and innate talent. This will explain why some folks with almost identical business setup and opportunities will succeed beyond their wildest dreams while others will fail miserably, even if at the onset they appear to have similar results. While there is no surefire foolproof way of guaranteeing success, there are three strategies for successful business marketing and of course profitability.

1. The very first step, interestingly enough, will not require you to find a product. Instead, it will ask you to honestly and succinctly list your talents. Mind you, this does not refer to learned behaviors and skill sets gleaned through book knowledge but instead it refers to your gut level abilities that may have gotten honed with the book knowledge you have acquired but which by and large have always been part and parcel of your makeup.

Once you compose a list, give it to your closest friends and ask them to give you a yes or no to see if they share your opinion. Ask your mother and your kid brother and everyone else who knows you well when your guards are down and you are being yourself. This is not a methodology to deter you from network marketing, but it will determine which aspect of the business you need to focus on to increase your ultimate profitability, product sales or down line generation.

2. Successful business marketing and profitability will rely on your inborn talents to focus on the right aspect of the majority of your attention while paying merely adequate attention to the rest of the business. Thus, the second strategy is the creation of a large pool of qualified leads. For some, this may refer to customers while for others this may pertain to a group of individuals who will become a down line. Much has been written about lead generation but remember that you do not want indiscriminate leads but instead must have qualified leads.

Eschew the net approach in favor of the hook, line and sinker approach. In the first instance you might rent a meeting room and heavily advertise your gathering as either a job opportunity, business opportunity, or wellness fair which will net you a lot of leads but because the ads were not completely genuine but probably will not bring you too many qualified leads. In the second instance, you will target a certain segment of the population by advertising in trade journals or niche specific publications and use power words that will elicit buying or joining responses. This is where qualified leads are found.

3. One of the most overlooked skills required in business marketing, network building and overall selling of anything at all is product knowledge. You will not be taken seriously as a sales person if you can only regurgitate that which is printed on the glossy brochure or written on your website. Consumers have become jaded with smooth talk and obvious marketing hype and instead are consistently searching for the genuine article. If you know your product first hand, you will have the ability to deliver a pitch in a conversational and not contrived tone of voice which will boost your credibility immediately.

Formula One Funding; Merchandise, Sponsorship And Big Business

The funding of Formula 1 is a mystery for many fans and even those inside the sport's inner circles have trouble understanding the complexities. What is generally known is that funding for Formula 1 consists of huge sponsorship, television coverage and merchandise sales. The merchandise sales are somewhat of an afterthought for sponsors but as the popularity of Formula 1 is growing the merchandise market is also on the increase.

Formula 1 is like many other sports in respect to television coverage. Advertisers will pay for slots in the TV coverage and may even sponsor a specific channel's coverage of an event. This lucrative method brings vast amounts of funding to the organising body of Formula 1, the FIA as well as its funding company, Formula One. This is important as Formula One is in the driving seat of presenting the Formula 1 package to the public, hence it needs immense funding to carry out these roles.

The Formula 1 teams support themselves in a number of ways; the bigger teams will be able to court sponsors from some of the biggest names in business, whereas smaller teams must make do with lower profiles patrons. Teams also produce their own merchandise ranges to cater for the needs of the average fans; once again the more popular teams obviously make more money.

Venues in the Formula 1 calendar are somewhat limited with their advertising freedom. As Formula 1 is ran by a small number of big business share holders the venue bosses are pushed out of the commercial decisions. Most venues do not have the rights to place their own signage and must pay to host the race. The majority of money made by venues is in the ticket and merchandise sales once fans are inside the track.

This explains why Formula 1 tickets can be very expensive, mainly due to venue managers trying to recoup some of the 13 million dollars they fork out annually to host a race. Hosting a Formula 1 race however is more about the prestige of being a premier world race track.

Formula One is the name of the business behind the sport of Formula 1; it is these businessmen and financiers that control how each race is funded and which sponsors are given preferential treatment. They also decide how much to 'top up' F1 teams' merchandise and sponsorship profits; although this is kept a secret and can sometimes cause friction between teams.

The teams in recent years have not been making enough money from merchandise and sponsorship sales and are beginning to barter for more money from Formula One. Their argument is that they are the entertainers in the sport and so should get a bigger slice of the cake, whether this will be successful is doubtable.

The drivers are not paid from Formula One funds but are employees of the racing teams. The astronomical sums that many of them receive are incomprehensible to those on an average wage, they are however the best drivers in the world and have worked hard to get where they are. The popular drivers such as Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso can also sign separate merchandising deals, usually for such luxury items as watches and jewellery.

The Formula 1 gravy train is driven by the big business that is Formula One, while Bernie Ecclestone holds a small part of the power in Formula 1; the big businesses that put up a lot of the funding ultimately demand respect. The bankers of the Formula One Company balance payment and income to keep Formula 1 at the pinnacle of motor racing entertainment.

Seemingly the biggest losers in the Formula 1 world are the venues, as ticket sales are most probably the smallest income when compared with the huge TV sponsorship and merchandise deals. In what is seen as an exclusive sport for the rich, the average fan can only afford his team's merchandise. With high ticket prices and the worldwide nature of the sport it is hard for anyone but the super rich to follow this sport closely from the trackside.

Motor Racing expert Thomas Pretty looks into how Formula 1 merchandise as well as sponsorship deals fund the Formula 1 industry. To find out more please visit http://www.official-merchandise.com/

There is a Better way to Advertise !

If you need to sell something, then you need customers.
And getting customers isnt always easy. In real life, it might be easier, because they are walking into your store or because they saw it driving by, or walking by if its in the mall. But if you want massive traffic you need to advertise. Like McDonalds, the food is nasty, -just my opinion- but people still go there way to often. That is the power of advertising.

That brings us to the internet, oohh how its changed. I've been asked many times how to get more traffic, I say to advertise more, or simply buy hits to your website. The later works for traffic, but they are not prospects. Consider this, much of that paid traffic is someone who gets redirected to your site from an abandoned URL. Thats like you walking into Star Bucks for a $5.00 coffee and then, BLAHM you end up in Big O Tires with some guy trying to sell you a set of BFG's for $1000. This happens everyday and millions of times on the internet.

Why am I telling you this, because if you have an online business and want to sell your product, no matter how superior it is, you need Quality traffic. Therefore do not waste money on buying stale leads, or getting caught up in the wrong advertising. I will show you a way of getting 100% FREE traffic for any business. Thats right, unlimited quality, targeted traffic. Think I'm crazy, I'm not, just a little, maybe. But the point is, that this works for all home business' or even better, online businesses. So, are you asking me how yet? I can't tell just yet.

The internet is full of losers, kinda like Vegas. And well these losers are trying to play with the big boys who earn $100,000 a month selling whatever. And taking the losers money. Look on EBay, there are so many people who spend more than they make buying stuff they dont need. I just sold an empty 26oz liqueur bottle last week for $5.00 plus $12.75 shipping. I spent $23.45 to buy it full of booze. True story! Don't be like them, save your money for real investment opportunities. Remember, anything worth having takes effort, so beware of the $100,000 a month AUTO, make money mumbo jumbo you see online.

There are real business opportunities online, but none of them pay these absurd incomes. Some will make you $18,000 - $30,000. For real, but it is a full time job. That might scare you away, but think about it.
How many of us work full time, and get nothing like that for a wage. Maybe you should try one out. It has worked miracles for my online business, and I'm sure it will do wonders for yours.

Increase Sales On Websites Through Streaming Audio

Radio is a good medium for product advertisements, as many studies have proven. People listen to the radio for entertainment, to their favorite artist's lastest music tracks or to the current popular radio shows. The broadcast is broken up into sections, and on these interval breaks, advertisements on products and services are played.

For many years, this has been the trend in advertising. But now that the radio medium is almost behind the audio-visual medium, the television, the Internet, and other marketing strategies have to be employed to continue the benefits of advertising through audio.

Then the benefits of using music on websites were discovered. Before, music on the Internet was just available in downloadable forms as mp3. Even through hosting downloadable music on their servers, companies were able to get much traffic on their sites. And everyone engaged in Internet marketing knows that website traffic plays a big role in boosting product and service sales.

However, there had been a problem with illegal music download in which artists, musicians and record companies have lost millions of revenues.

Then, came the popularity of Internet music streaming. Unlike the former, radio streaming does not allow download of the music files. Thus, the copyrights of the artists and record label owners are protected.

So, how can this be done? There are several ways to stream audio from your site. First, is to stream a radio program from your site or blog. You can find free affiliate programs that allow you to stream their radio content from your site.

What will this mean to you? This means that your site will have new audio content every time it is visited. What's even great is that the content is being updated even without much effort from you.

In this case, what you needed to do is to signup with an Internet radio station and have the link embedded on your blog or website.

Another way is to stream mp3s. To do this, you just need to upload your mp3files on a server and add the files' links to the page. When the link is clicked, the browser opens a media player window and plays a file. However, since the file is in mp3 format, it may also be downloaded. Downloading music files without the authorization of the copyright owner is illegal. Therefore, if you will be using this type of streaming, make sure that you have the appropriate permit to do so.

A third way to add audio to you blog or website is to stream music through organizing playlists. Playlists are m3u files, which if downloaded, will not play music if offline. Using this process, however, can be complex. Here is a short instruction on how to do it.

1. Save your mp3 or wma file on the server. You may skip this step if you know that the file exists on another server and know the link to that file. Make sure that the link has a .mp3 or .wma extension.

2. Open your text editor and type the path to the file. Include the http:// and the file extension. Repeat this step until you have included all the links to the files that you would like to be included in the playlist.

3. Save the playlist with a .m3u extension.

4. Upload the m3u file on the directory where the music files are hosted or to your server.

5. Open your html editor and embed the link to the m3u file. Through this, you can also set if you want to have the playlist to autoplay if someone visits your site of if you want your visitor to control playing the music. You can also set the volume level.

After the code is embedded on the html file, and whenever your site is visited, the songs in the playlist will be buffered, streamed and played one after another. If your playlist has several songs, the user can skip forward or go back a song in the playlist using the media player controls.

Doing this setup works for many website owners. Through this you can customize the type of music being played on your site. You can even play recordings related to your product to boost product awareness.

It requires knowledge of html to be done. But if it will to increase traffic to your site, why not request assistance from programmers. After all, having audio on a website is a proven way to increase sales.

A Comparison between MLM (Network Marketing) & Direct Sales Approaches

There are several different approaches to launching a home-based business online. The two most prevalent are called MLM (Multilevel Marketing or Network Marketing) and Direct Sales. Both provide the potential to make loads of cash. There are basic differences in the approaches and techniques utilized by each. Let's take a closer look:

MLM or multilevel marketing is a method of engaging in a home-based business on the Internet. There are programs that you pay to be a part of (normally a nominal monthly fee of around $40.00). Once you join, the name of the game is to promote the same program. In other words, you are trying to get others to join the same program that you just joined for a percentage of their monthly dues paid. Here is a quick list of facts concerning MLM:

1) You join the program.

2) You are appointed a sponsor somebody who has been in the program longer than you that can help you learn the ropes.

3) With the help of your sponsor, you begin to develop your skills of online and off-line advertising and promotion.

4) As your promotion techniques saturate the Internet, you gain new members for the program that are placed under you. This is known as your downline.

5) Like your sponsor that gets a percentage of your monthly dues, you now receive a percentage of the monthly dues of the each member of your downline.

6) People love enthusiasm and positivity. If you display such characteristics via your promotional techniques, it is possible to grow a massive downline. That means that you would be receiving a percentage of a massive accumulation of monthly dues.

7) As long as the members of your downline continue to be a part of the program, you receive monthly income. This is called residual income.

8) You receive a percentage of your downline's dues because you referred them. Your sponsor receives a percentage of your monthly dues because he referred you. Your sponsor also receives a percentage of your downline's monthly dues (smaller than your percentage), because without him they may have never been referred by you. The organizers of the program take the rest of the money.

9) You now become the sponsor for the members of your downline. It is your job to keep them motivated and teach them of the ropes of promotion. That means that you will also receive a percentage of that anybody who joins the program under any member of your downline (your downline's downline).

10) This process duplicates itself indefinitely. As the program grows, so does your residual income.

Now let's take a look at the direct sales approach:

1) There is no program to join. Direct marketing is a solo venture.

2) The product or products that you sell are determined by you. They can be physical or electronic in nature.

3) You keep no inventories. If the product is electronic, then you are simply selling a URL for them to have the electronic rights to it.

4) If the product is physical nature, you act as a middleman and have the product drop shipped to them.

5) Methods of promotion for direct sales include:
-Pay-per-click advertising campaigns like on Google, Yahoo and MSN
-Blogging
-Sending out newsletters
-Paying a service to give you targeted leads in the form of e-mail addresses

6) You can also engage in any number of offline advertising methods to promote your online business.

Regardless of the method of online marketing that you choose to engage, your home-based business can make you loads of cash. The best thing to do is to increase your education further. The more you know, the more valuable you become and the easier it is to grow your down-line and your business. Now that you have some knowledge to go on, take it to the next step. Through your research, you will be able to better discern which course of action is the best one for you.

Memo To Celebrity Apprentice: Sometimes The Client Is Wrong

Donald Trump's new show, Celebrity Apprentice, does not always feature celebrities (Omarosa has more notoriety than celebrity). And the participants will never become Apprentices. But like the original Apprentice series, each episode teaches valuable lessons -- sometimes inadvertently.

Caution: What follows may be interpreted as a spoiler. So if the last episode still resides on your DVR and the element of suspense is important to you...you're warned.

Being a musical Luddite, I hadn't heard of Gene Simmons, one of the Celebrity Contestants. Simmons has used the show as an opportunity to display his talents as a marketing genius.

In the last episode, Simmons came up with a brilliant idea for celebrity client Kodak - a memorable slogan and a slick presentation.

"But that wasn't what we wanted!" cried the executives. "We are selling ink. You are delivering emotion."

The judging triumvirate - Trump, his daughter Ivanka and guest judge Jim Cramer, host of CNBC's "Mad Money" -- all agreed: We have to listen to the client. The custmomer is always right.

But this time, I believe they were wrong.

Many decades ago, a famous marketing pro named David Ogilvy wrote a classic: Confessions of an Advertising Man. Like classics in any field, it's still worth reading.

Ogilvy warned that clients get in the way of their own advertising. They won't take risks with brilliant, edgy campaigns that draw customes. They don't think like their own customers.

He was right.

In a full service ad qgency, account executives act as buffers between The Talent and The Client. That way you can take advantage of outsize creative egos without risking a business relationship.

But on The Apprentice - and often in my own business - clients meet the creative process head-on. The result can be a collision or a conversion.

I wish The Donald had asked an advertising executive to serve as one of the judges, instead of a finance guy. I wish Donald had stood up and said, "We have to play by the rules. But I hope Kodak tests your idea because it's brilliant and edgy. When you feel just a little bit uncomfortable you may be on to something great."

When I deliver copy, my clients sometimes express dismay. "It doesnt sound like me." "It's so...marketing!"

I encourage them to live with the copy. I offer to run tests and comoparisons if they're really nervous. Fortunately, as results come in, clients are pleasantly surprised and they relax. It's hard to argue with increased sign-ups, revenue and (hopefully) profit.

And I do listen to the client - when they talk about their target markets. On Kodak-size accounts, the advertisers typically go directly to the clients to get first-hand insights.

Maybe Simmons would have done better to stay focused on the ink. Maybe his ideas were too big for the project.

But as every marketer knows, it's hard to be objective about our own marketing. It's frustrating to create a campaign that comes down to, "We're cheaper." And the big wins often come when we step outside our comfort zone.

Effective Ways Of Home Business Promotion

Promoting your Internet home business is one of the most important steps to becoming successful, and should be treated as such. Aside from the amount of time it takes in the beginning (i.e., coming up with the idea for your business, figuring out your exact service or product, creating a work space, hiring employees, and finding the funding for everything), spending a significant amount of time on promoting is crucial.

How is your business going to succeed if no one knows about it? It is not going to promote itself, after all. Once you have finished working out the kinks of your home business, you need to develop a plan for promoting your Internet business.

Here are some key points to consider:

1. Who is your target customer base?

If your business were web design, a good start for a customer base would be would be other businesses looking to create company websites. The idea is to advertise in places these businesses, or the people who work for them, will see you. The idea is not to advertise, say, on a website about gardening operated by your sister-in-law. Sure, it may save you some money, but in the long run, who is going to see it? Which brings us to our next point.

2. How much money can you afford to invest in promoting your business?

Those of you who have thus far been successful in your Internet business will have more money to spend than those of you who have just started. Still, there are inexpensive ways for promoting your Internet business. Consider websites that allow you to build free websites of your own, such as Yahoo! Geocities, taking out ads in your local classifieds, and most importantly word-of-mouth. Later, when you have more money, you can invest in your own business website, business cards, and even pay for advertising space on other major websites.

3. How much time can you afford to invest in promoting your business?

Consider the number of people (employed by you or just eager to help) that you will rely on. Is it just you and maybe a friend? If so, you will want to zone in on two or three ideas for promoting your Internet business that are the most likely to get your business seen by the public. Have a few more people to work with? Then try assigning each person a promotion project.

Promoting your Internet business will not be easy in the beginning just like every other step in making your Internet business dream a reality, it will take hard work and dedication. Use these points to help you in promoting your Internet business in an organized manner, and soon your business will start promoting itself!

Using Forum And Blogs To Generate Tons Of Laser Targeted Free Traffic

For every subject that you can possibly imagine and probably a few that you would most likely never want to imagine, there are people gathered on the Internet on blog and forum sites who are discussing it... at great length.

You can bet that no matter what the topic of your website or what product or service that you are selling that somewhere (and probably a lot of somewheres) people are discussing it right now as we speak on blogs and forums on the Internet.

Whatever your product or service is, there is a specific group of people who are the most likely to buy it. These are the ones who are gathered on blogs and forums discussing a topic for which your product or service is an answer to their problem. I use the word "problem" rather loosely here. "Problems" covers anything that a person wants but doesn't have... whether that "thing" is a new pair of jeans, a cure for cancer or anything in between. "Problems" are simply things that people want but don't have... and your product is obviously one of those things... at least for some of them. Now... your mission is to find these people.

Go to your favorite search engine and in the search box type in your key words followed by the word "forums". Hit search. You will be amazed at the number of forums on which your potential customers are discussing the topic that you are most interested in and the one where your product can actually be of service.

Repeat the search using the word, "blogs" behind your key words. You will likely get just as many hits using that term.

Now out of these two searches that you have done, choose the top 4 or 5 sites of each search that come up in the results. Visit these sites and determine if they are in fact discussing the topic that your product relates to. Choose three or four of the most active forums or blogs. "Active" meaning those who have had the most posts made to them in the last 24 hour period or who have the largest number of members listed. Join the sites.

Remember that posting to blogs and forums is a time consuming task. It is an important task and it is a task that will help to drive traffic to your website but, I assure you, it IS time consuming. For each and every blog and forum site that you join, you will need to post 3 to 5 times each week and each post will consist of at least 300 words...probably more.

This is important! Do NOT start out posting blatant advertisements for your product or for your website. Think of each blog and forum as a neighborhood that you have just moved into. The people on each site will most likely know one another well and you will be the "new kid on the block"... so act like it.

Posting advertisements for your product or for your website is just rude. They will likely be removed by the blog or forum administrator as will you be removed from the membership list. Advertisements are generally banned from all blog and forum sites.

What can and should do is include your website address in your signature tag. That is not considered advertisement. It is simply a part of your identity and is viewed as such by the administrators as well as the members of blogs and forums.

Remember that your posts need to be thoughtful, considerate and helpful to other members and must never EVER appear to be advertisements for your website or for your products. You can suggest your products as solutions for problems within your posts but they must not look like advertisements. They must appear to be of the "friend-helping-a-friend" variety.

Never include links to your website within the body of your posts to blogs and forums. This can be construed as advertising and it can get you tossed out on your ear. You must be satisfied with the link to your website that will appear just below you name in your signature tag at the end of each post.

You can safely rely on the human trait of curiosity to insure that the members of the blogs and forums will click on the link to your website in your signature tag. Most people come with a healthy and built-in supply of curiosity. They will not be able to resist clicking on the link below you name at least once.

Posting to blogs and forums who's topics relate to the topic of your website or to your product or service is an excellent way to create website traffic and do it for free.

Measuring Home Based Biz Advertising Success Online

It is easy for me to tell you that you need to track the success of your online advertising. It is also easy for me to tell you that you must do so in order to know which of your advertising is helping you to make a profit, to break even, or to break the bank. Far too many advertisers get caught in the online money pits in an effort to develop their online business.

DO NOT BE AFRAID
I also know that when I say these things, some people get spooked. People get spooked because although they might run an online business, they may not understand the technology that keeps their business running. Let us face it. More people are learning how to design and develop their own web pages. In fact, software has been created to help them do so rather easily. But when it comes down to the more complex technologies such as web logs, database technology, and web programming, most people just freeze up and fail to make an informed decision. Some will turn to a programmer with hopes that a programmer could save their online business, and many will get burned by their personal programmers. When a programmer burns a webmaster, the cost can be very high. And at the end of the day, the programmer may leave the webmaster with a broken web site. The only real choices left to most webmasters is to learn how to install pre-made scripts on their own, or to keep their websites technologically simple. *Technologically simple* often fails to help the webmaster find the success that he or she so fervently desires.

UNDERSTANDING THE NATURE OF PRE-MADE SCRIPTS
Web software is often very simple in its installation, so the webmaster really should not fear it. All one needs to install their own pre-made web scripts (software) is an online web site file manager or optional FTP software. They will also need the ability to change the *permissions* on the files on their web server. When downloading scripts for installation on your server, the file may come in .zip, .tar, or .gz format. Each of these are variations on the compressed / zipped file format. There are many utilities available for unzipping files. One such utility is WinZip. Most scripts, once downloaded and unzipped, may appear in text format with extensions such as .php, .cgi, .pl or .cfg. Most of these files can be read as plain text in an application like NotePad. Occasionally, the file will be in a binary format that cannot be read with a text editor. The files that can be read in a text editor are often written in the Perl or PHP programming languages. While most of the scripting will seem like Chinese to you, you will be able to pick out certain sections that can be read and understood easily. If the application also contains a .cfg file, this is your configuration file that can usually be changed to reflect your own personal needs or desires for the operation of the software.

NEXT STEP, UPLOAD THE FILES TO YOUR SERVER
Most of these web applications will have a readme.txt file included with it. If it does, please read it. If it does not, do not worry, this section is for you. You must upload the files to your server as plain text. If you are using FTP to upload the files, then you must tell your software to upload the files in ASCII format. If you are using your web file manager, then the files will automatically upload correctly. Once the file is on your server, then you must change the file permissions. Files with the extensions .php, .cgi, or .pl are executable files and there permissions must be set to 755. Files with the extensions .cfg, .txt, or .html must have their permissions set to 644. Files and folders that will be written to must have their permissions set to 777. Files with no extensions can be classified as any of the above, so check the readme.txt file. 755 defines an executable file. 644 defines a read-only file. And 777 defines a writable file. Once the files are on your server and the permissions are set correctly, the application you have placed on your server should work for you just fine.

LOCATING PRE-MADE SITE TRACKING SCRIPTS
Probably one of the best resources for locating pre-made scripts is by doing a search on Google for "cgi-resources". If after reading this article you still fear the task of installing a pre-made script on your server, then you might seriously consider remotely hosted site tracking software. If you opt for this route, be sure to buy the pro version of the software offered. If you do not choose the paid version, you might find your own competitors having access to your site tracking data! That should not be an acceptable option to you.

THE PURPOSE OF SITE TRACKING
With site tracking software running on your server, you can review how many people came to your website and what URLs they might have used to find your website. You can also see where your visitors have come from, when they came, how long they were on your site, at what page they entered and left your site, and much more. This is the kind of information that will help you to determine with some certainty how effective your advertising is and how profitable your advertising can be. Operating without tracking data is tantamount to operating a business with the intent purpose of failing. I truly want you to succeed with your online business. I know deep down in my heart that the more people who find success online, the greater my own chances for remaining profitable over the long haul.

If you are not sure how to manage your website, keep in mind that blogs are much more manageable. When you have a blog, it leaves the dirty work to someone else. And every time you want to add a new post, you don't have to call your web designer, you can do it from your own home if you'd like.

Another benefit of having a blog is that you are able to allow interaction amongst your readers and customers. Don't forget that word of mouth is a great way to get your name out there. Having a blog for you business will not only improve your current business but also attract new customers.

Most blogs automatically do this without any effort on your part. If this is not part of the service of your blog, than there are several different services available to help you out. This is a huge benefit over having a website as opposed to a blog.

Online Riches Forever Brand Yourself

The Internet is comprised of literally hundreds of millions of websites. Almost all of them want your money. Online business endeavors fail at an amazingly high rate of over 98.5%. If you want to be one of the very few people that generate cash online, you have to create a legitimate and trusted brand for yourself. You have to position yourself as an expert and develop your online presence with integrity.

As with offline businesses, branding yourself or your product refers to planting a seed into the minds of your potential customers that will grow into trust. You need them to trust you. You need them to feel like they know you. You need them to want to get to know you better. And most of all, you want them to open their pocketbooks to you. That is the bottom line in business: the generation of revenue.
How do you make yourself stand out amongst the hundreds of millions who are competing against you for every customer that you could possibly get? How can you make them trust you and get an honest vibe from you? There are a lot of different ways. Start out by being honest with them. Tell them the truth about yourself and/or your products.

Don't begin the branding process with too much hype or outright dishonesty. Utilize online services and social networks like YouTube, MySpace, Digg, Squidoo and countless others. They help to create a positive image for you. They allow you to show pictures or videos of yourself. It's hard for somebody to trust you when they can't put a face to you.

The most successful businesses are the ones that do the best job at branding themselves. Companies like Coca-Cola and McDonald's thrive with unbelievable success. They do so because they spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year on branding. That's what advertising is in a nutshell.

There's great news for you! You don't have to have hundreds of millions of dollars to brand yourself online. You do have to have a lot of good knowledge though. Remember, you're competing with everybody and their brothers and you're going to need some good techniques to rise above them. Begin by educating yourself. Find an expert source of honest information and assimilate the knowledge that it gives. Once you establish yourself with a solid online presence, you can use that to generate passive income for the rest of your life.

Avoiding Becoming A SB Site Spammer

MAKING SURE YOU DON'T SPAM

Social bookmarking offers you a lot of freedom, and can help you drive traffic to your website overnight. Still, abusing this freedom can lower the credibility of your business, your brand, and your company name. Moving beyond the potential for spamming will help you to build a strong and regular community, instead of being booted off a social bookmarking network.

It's important to review your submissions to make sure you're not overusing keywords. Keyword overuse is a turnoff for readers anyway, and you should aim for a keyword density between 6-8% at the maximum level. Most readers will easily pick up on articles that simply do not make sense, and this will limit your ability to promote quality work. Instead of focusing exclusively on SEO, create something unique with an attractive headline instead.

Google and Yahoo! are also becoming vigilant about catching spam-type articles and you will lower your chances of indexing as a result. The most important factors for indexing by Google include:

" Publishing content that is relevant to the heading or topic
" Quality formatting
" Appropriate links and references
" Appropriate amount of keywords

Reading all terms of use and guidelines will ensure that you can make the most of your participation, and grow with your community so you are developing a strong presence.

Avoiding Becoming A Spammer If You're Using Duplicate Content.

Duplicate content makes it easier for you to write about your topic of choice, giving you a pre-researched format and guideline. Still, it's important to make many changes to the article, and obtain permission rights from the author when necessary. A single sentence or paragraph that is copied word for word can be detrimental to your search engine placement, and may even lead to copyright infringement.

THE SOFTWARE QUESTION:
TO BUY, OR NOT TO BUY

You'll find a variety of submission directory software packages and applications available on the web today, but it's important to review the risks involved with using an automated service. Since many of these can be blocked by spam filters, the efforts may not be worth your time. These software packages are designed to submit your content and information on multiple sites in one simple step.

Some social bookmarking submission software packages are designed to be compatible with multiple websites, but you may find that some of your content simply becomes pushed onto spamming sites and bogs. This is why submitting to quality directories and sites is even more important today. Automation does not necessarily guarantee quality, and only you can make the decision on whether this is appropriate for your business, your blog, or your website.

Still, you may find some value in free sites such as Socializer 2.0. Socializer is free web service from eKstreme.com that allows you submit one link to several social bookmarking websites by adding some code to your site. The company has also developed customizable Wordpress and Movable Type plugins and you can find instructions on downloading this information directly from the website.

You can book mark your articles to one folder in your IE Favorites, export it to it's own folder and import all book marks in that folder to Del.icou.us and them tag/label them. Many of the other Social Bookmarking Sites have features that will allow you to import those favorites directly into your account from Del.icio.us.

IMPORTANT: Remember to mark all your bookmarks in all Social Bookmarking Sites as public. When you import bookmarks, most sites will automatically or by default mark them as private. When they are marked as private, no one including search engines can find of view your bookmarks. If you leave them marked as private, it of course then defeats the purpose of Social Bookmarking from a marketing standpoint.

How Writing Articles Can Get You Free Traffic To Your Website

Check the major pay per click search engines such as Google and Yahoo Search Marketing and you will see that there are thousands of searches each month for specific keywords. When these keywords are typed on search boxes of search engines, indexed websites containing articles with those keywords will be displayed. And this is what leads traffic to websites with keyword-rich articles. Yes, the magic word is articles.

Content is king. You can say that again. That is why writing articles is one of the most utilized Internet marketing media today. Internet surfers just can't get enough of information on various fields. Providing information through these articles is a surefire way to drive hot traffic to your web site.

Why is this so? Here are the benefits that writing articles can give your Internet business.

1. It's absolutely free.

Too good to be true? Not. Okay, you have to pay for your Internet Service Provider. That's it. All you need is your thoughts, your computer, and your hands. If you have those, nothing will stop you from typing words that will make you complete that article for your website. On which aspect of that process did you really shell out any cent? Maybe later when your electric bills come.

2. Your website will be noticed in a short period of time.

Submit that article of yours to article directories that get the most web traffic and in no time your web site will be crawled. That is if you don't forget including your resource box or byline.

3. Obtain back links automatically.

When you submit your articles to directories, surely, other websites will make use of your article too. With the copyright terms of your articles, the URL of your website will still be in tact and will subsequently direct more traffic to your website.

4. Improve your reputation.

As an Internet marketer, if you plainly display your products on your website, you will not gain much conversion rate. Conversion is when your traffic converts to sales. You have to show that you are knowledgeable on your field. And what better way to show that than by writing articles that will allow you some bragging rights, right?

Just make your creative juices flow and jot down or key in those ideas quickly to jumpstart your article writing momentum. With those benefits listed above, a writer's block is the last problem you will ever be able to surmount.

Leverage The Power Of Thousands Of Affiliates To Get Free Traffic And Advertising

Ever heard of affiliate programs? These are forms of Internet advertising that rewards the affiliates for driving traffic to the advertiser or for other transactions. The advertiser pays the affiliate to place a link on their website, and the affiliate sends traffic to the advertiser in return. Simply put, it's about paying commissions to people who help you make sales. It's that easy. NOT.

Affiliate marketing has its ups and downs. It could be draining if you are not armed with updated information and the technical how-tos. But this article's sole objective is to reach out to you and not to badmouth affiliate marketing.

Here are the following reasons on why web marketers go gaga over affiliate marketing as a form of Internet advertisement.

1. Low cost

Many are scared to go on a home based business because of the capital required. In affiliate marketing, you don't have to spend much to start raking in moolah.

2. Inventories not included

Product management fuss could be very stressing. An inventory is not asked to be maintained. The merchant does the maintenance required.

3. Unlimited income through leverage

When you have a paid job, your monthly income mainly relies on whether you go to work or not. With affiliate marketing, your affiliates could all just lead traffic to your site without having to lift a finger after providing them your ad copy and links. Though not every web marketer earns limitless, it still is a fact that all the necessary matters for the advertiser or Internet marketer are all there to be successful.

4. Go worldwide

With affiliate marketing, you are dealing with a global market place. All you have to do is choose a niche product and prepare all the necessary tools for your affiliates to lead traffic from just about anywhere to your website.

5. Low risk

The very main reason for Internet marketer's enthusiasm with affiliate marketing is its having a low risk factor. Especially for those with low budget set aside for advertising, affiliate marketing is just the way to do it.

6. No closing time

With affiliate marketing, your business works every single second of the day while targeting a worldwide market! What could be better than that?

But all of these will be put to waste if you don't have the right niche product and all the other important tools to make it big in affiliate marketing, i.e., well-SEO-ed website. So better work on this first before ever considering those benefits.

Signs: The Secret to Getting Results from Your Advertisement Sign

Signs have been used in marketing for as long as most of can remember. There are a few simple keys to making a sign that will generate sales. Most of these factors are very simple but are often overlooked. Lets take a look at the three most critical factors in making a quality advertisement sign.

The most important aspect of creating and getting great marketing results from your sign has nothing to do with the sign itself. The first rule is simple. Location, Location, Location. Need I say it again. The greatest sign with the best copy in the world will do you little to no good if it is located in a poor traffic area. Find a place to post your sign where the most possible people can see it. Now that you have selected the location where there is a good amount of traffic you are off to step two. Make sure the sign is visible from many angles. Walk around the area and notice if any obstacles such as tree branches or buildings block the view of the sign. You should notice at this time if your advertisement needs to raised or lowered. The third step is to make sure the advertisement is facing towards the highest traffic area. These simple steps will allow you to maximize the results of the sign you created.

The Sign
When creating your sign the rules are very simple. The most common mistake made in creating advertisement signs is that people want to put to much information in a small space. This hurts your advertisement in two manners. One. People seeing your sign are moving. We live in a fast paced world where most people are not going to stop to take the time to read your advertisement. If you follow the rule of short and sweet it will help you avoid the next critical mistake in making your sign. Mistake number two is small text making the sign difficult to read. If you know you have a very limited amount of space to work with on a sign a simple catch phrase can be very powerful. Remember keep it short and simple.

Dynamics of Color
The color of signs has become a science. Many colors dictate action while others build trust. You may notice most fast food signs and logos use red and yellow. These colors create a call to action. It is good to use caution with these colors, overdone both of these colors signify caution. The colors of blue and green help nurture trust and confidence. Nothing states tradition and security like black and white.

When creating your sign try to follow the three basic principles of:
1. Location
2. Short and Simple
3. A fitting Color Scheme

Five Changes the Real Estate Industry Needs To Make Immediately

"We are stuck in the dark ages, I have great confidence that we will have the best record company in the industry, but the reality is, in today's world, we might have the best dinosaur. Until a new model is agreed upon and rolling, we can be the best at the existing paradigm, but until the paradigm shifts, it's going to be a declining business. This model is done." Rick Rubin, Chairman of Columbia Records

As chairman of one of the biggest record companies in the world, Rubin realized that the music industry needed a complete overhaul. To say that Rubin has been successful is an understatement. Rubin has won 6 Grammy awards, produced hundreds of albums, been responsible for the career success of a veritable who's who of the music industry having worked with everybody from Johnny Cash to U2. MTV has called Rubin the most influential person in the music industry in the last 20 years.

From behind the scenes, Rubin has seen it all and he knows a change is desperately needed for the record industry. The downhill slide in music began in 1999. Its demise was a child. A young technologically advanced young man. His muse was called Napster.

Napster was founded in May 1999 by Shawn Fanning, a high school student that developed a program for people to share music files over the Internet. This technological advancement caught on with such popularity and grew so fast that the music industry was caught with its pants down. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) with no way to stop what was going on decided to at first try to ignore the technology and when that did not work they began suing their customers. We all know how that turned out.

If that wass not bad enough, on October 23, 2001, just a month after the 9/11 terrorist attack, Apple computers basically put the final nail in the coffin of the music industry as we used to know it. They launched the iPod. Fast forward to January 2007, when Apple reported record quarterly revenue of US$7.1 billion, of which 48% was made from iPod sales alone. On April 9, 2007, it was announced that Apple had sold its one-hundred millionth iPod, making it the biggest selling digital music player of all time.

In 8 short years, the recording industry was turned upside down. They were ignorant to the value of technology, their governing body did nothing to react to the technology and now sales have been in a free fall decline ever since. Sort of like the housing industry.

So what can be learned from history so as it does not repeat itself? I believe it is too late for many agents, as in my opinion the real estate agent business model is obsolete and has even worse leadership. But that's an article and opinion that has already been voiced.

Five Changes the Real Estate Industry Needs To Make Immediately

1. Toss out the baby with the bath water.
In the past, a bath was simply a tub of standing water in which every member of the family bathed in the same bathwater. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying, "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water". Whether or not this was true, the idiom remains. Real Estate is dirty. The landscape is murky and littered with sub par performers who are stinking up the joint. The industry is led by Brokers who in some instances are less knowledgeable than their rookie agents. It's time to change and realize that the bath water, and all those lurking in the dirty water be thrown out so the real performers can start fresh and clean

Make it harder for new agents to enter the business. Embrace technology. Educate yourself with many techniques to get a deal done and most importantly understand there is NO business that can be successful without understanding the value of marketing and personal investment. MARKETING IS EVERYTHING!

2. Put the trophies away.
John Wooden was arguably the best college basketball coach of all time. The Wizard of Westwood as he is affectionately called won 10 national championships. Unbelievably his teams won 7 national championships in a row from 1967 to 1973. His UCLA teams also had a record winning streak of 88 consecutive games, four perfect 30-0 seasons, and won 38 straight games in NCAA Tournaments.

Wooden writes in his autobiography that after winning his 10th and last championship in 1975 that he was walking off the court and a fan came up to congratulate him. Wooden recounts that the fan said these resounding words to him, "Great win coach, this makes up for letting us down last year". How strong is the legacy of THE Coach? Steve Lavin (fired from UCLA in 2003), has called this post-Wooden phenomenon a "pathology," and believes that every basketball coach will eventually be fired or forced out from UCLA.

Just because you experienced success doing something one way, does not mean you can count on being successful tomorrow or the day after. Set aside your laurels, re-tool and play the game with today's rules. Success did not last at UCLA and it will not, and has not, lasted in real estate. Change your gameplan right now. Don't have one, create one. Don't let the success of the boom years be your "pathology".

3. Supplication in business breeds HUGE profits.
When is the last time you completely humbled yourself in front of a client? I mean actually show yourself as being completely and utterly undeserving of their business and that you would be honored for them to just to be speaking with you?

With all of the picturesque business cards with all of the alphabets on the cards with all of the brochures selling YOU...when was the last time you begged humbly for someone's business? In this market, you had better learn!

Here's a novel idea to follow. The customer is king. What is more important in today's market is the realization that they may even be more knowledgeable than you. Not sure? Well, you better go into the deal expecting as much. In today's market you had better understand that the appointment that you go on today is an informed prospect. Know your client and ask for the permission to SERVE him.

Permission to do business with the client IS what you are trying to have bestowed upon you. Permission marketing is what will save the real estate industry. In today's digital world you have the ability to communicate with your client and your prospects in a way that you never have before. From their computer, anywhere in the world they should be able to find you and communicate with you, on their terms. But you must have permission. Permission marketing is effective because the client or prospect is contacting you and giving you the stated privilege to do business with them.

Imagine having a stream of qualified, interested prospects calling you. Imagine having had a month of dialogue with a client before you have even met them. Think you could close more business? Let them know you value their permission.

4. Go to War!
No, I am not saying join the Army and go to Iraq. I am talking about taking the gloves off with the media and going to war to combat the onslaught of doom and gloom. The market is not bad. There are deals to be had. There are tons of buyers out there. You are just not armed. David may have slayed a giant with a slingshot but in today's reality, the slingshot just is not going to cut it. You need to be armed with the new and improved slingshot. The cyber-slingshot. Able to slay giants anywhere and anytime. Have I mentioned the importance of technology? Are you getting it yet? Here's a hint, an autoresponder or spam filter is not an adequate use of technology. Your client or prospect may be afraid. People who are afraid, don't buy...unless of course you utilize the aforementioned permission to provide them with information to support their buying decision.

5. Sell the iPod. Be the iPod.
Can you imagine selling a product that everybody HAD to have? Can you imagine BEING the product everyone HAD to have? Now imagine being both. Kind of wild isn't it? Let's agree, selling real estate is not and has not been traditionally sexy. No sizzle. In fact you are in the least prestigious "profession" known to man. Are you simply going to accept that? Become a rockstar...do something remarkable. Don't go outside the box, stomp on it and kick it to the curb!

Earlier I spoke about the iPod. Here is a product that did not exist 8 years ago and now it is a must have. Like Fed Ex before it, how many products or services are created and then become something you can't do without. Be the iPod! Re-Brand yourself as someone we NEED to do business with and someone we MUST do business with. People who learn to capture notoriety generate profits. What are you doing that will make you a rockstar in your community? You need to generate massive exposure and personal celebrity. At a minimum you need to try.

This would just be a starting point. A true roadmap needs to be developed by the individual. As an agent who truly wants to succeed in today's market and beyond, there has to be a concerted effort to reward change and to embrace technology.

I had an agent email me this morning and say angrily that all I keep talking about is marketing and technology. He said I knew nothing about real estate or marketing and that I was an idiot. I asked him how he heard about us. Angrily he said he was reading our blog. And I'm the idiot. Marketing is everything!

Change, while not easy, is constant and quite fulfilling if you are prepared for it.

Marketing Plans - Keys To A Successful Budget Friendly Campaign

For some business owners the words Marketing and Advertising brings nightmares. The thought of spending time on Marketing Plans may seem boring and uninspiring, however this is the life blood of your business. So for those just starting its important that this be your main task.

Here's the truth about your new business. If nobody knows that you're in business but your immediate friends and family then you're headed down a road of stagnation. Nothing is worse than stagnation in a Work From Home business.

Marketing Plans Made Easy.

Most of us don't want to think about marketing because we don't want to spend the money that we have not made from our initial investment. Well, the truth is the initial investment is just that, the initial investment. This however does not mean that your Marketing budget has to hurt.

So back to the plan. What you want to consider while crafting your Marketing Plan to keep it simple (KIS) are, your goals, how to get the message out, budget, and Time spent on one method versus another.

Goals.

For your goals, consider what you expect to accomplish with your chosen campaign. This should be very simple. Either exposure or sales. Exposure is always a good way to start.

How to get message out (Low Cost Marketing).

There are many cost effective ways to get your message out without breaking the bank. I will share a few with you. The great thing here is that once you see this list it will get your juices flowing to come up with more yourself.

Unsold space near press time is a great way to get a good deal on inexpensive advertising. This is called remnant space. They are available for publications as well as radio and TV.

Overnight Radio. How does $10 per minute sound? Sounds like music to me. Of course there will be much less of an audience but it can still be very effective.

Newspaper. By cutting down your ads and having a catchy headline you can save money. Same thing for Classifieds. By placing your ad in the right place you will get more targeted traffic.

Yellow Pages. Did you know that first advertisers get as much as 40% off? Check with placing the ads in the online version.

Publicity. For this you will need a great press kit. One press kit can give you a lot of free press. So one cost can bring great amounts of exposure. You will however have to convince the newspaper or whomever that your company is news worthy.

Contest and Give-Aways. A great way to get your company in the public eye is to have a contest. For example, if you're a travel agent you can give away vacations for referrals.

Testimonials. Always get stories from your satisfied customers.

Flyers. 5000 flyer for 100 dollars is a good deal. With flyers you must make sure that the placement of these flyers are in places where your product or service is needed/wanted. Advertising for a tanning bed on Sunset Strip may not be the place.

Coupons and Samples. Giving your services away for discounted prices is a great addition to your Marketing Plan.

Online advertising. If your business is online you would be remiss of you not to use all of the internet marketing strategies available. In today's market a website is a must for any business.

Budget.

The Small Business Administration suggest that at least five percent of gross sales should go into your Marketing Plan and advertising strategy.

Timeline.

This is probably the most import part of your plan. Once you have worked out a Marketing Plan think of a time line to gauge your results. You want to know the results of all campaigns. This will allow you to know how effective it was. Then move on to the next in your strategy. I would suggest only doing one or two at a time. Once you find one that gives you the maximum results then its time for "All Out Massive Action."

With a little planning your Marketing Plan no longer needs to be a chore. Better yet its discovery time for you and your business. If taken serious this can be your ticket to a successful business.

Blogs As A Social Bookmarking Platforms

Blogs offer countless opportunities for launching your business into the social media networks, and they can be designed as an extension of an existing website, or simply stand alone. Blogging is moving far beyond the casual journal style of the initial growth stages, allowing businesses and large companies to develop a fresh identity.

Blogging culture allows you to take part in a conversational style of marketing, reaching hundreds and thousands of visitors on a daily basis, and even creating a following. Providing high quality content is an important component of your blog; without good articles and content, your readers will simply move elsewhere.

A blog can be used as a platform for your social bookmarking efforts since each and every link to an article can be shared independently. This is why you need to implement a social bookmarking badge or link on your site, since the times that you are not independently marketing yourself, another visitor may go ahead and do it for you!

Blogs are an easy way to break apart your website into different subjects and categories. Even a well-organized website can be limited when it does not offer comments or space for feedback. While many websites are being designed in this way, the benefits of launching a blog along with your site are a valuable opportunity to generate higher readership.

Blogs also give you an option to implement an RSS subscription service. Since many people simply do not have the time to visit multiple sites in a given day, an RSS feed can deliver new content to their e-mail box or other RSS reader. This gives you a chance to share the link with each and every subscriber, and every time you publish, you increase the chances of someone simply submitting your content to a social bookmarking site or network.

SETTING UP YOUR BLOG TO BE SOCIAL MEDIA FRIENDLY

Your blog may be setup through a variety of services including Blogger, WordPress, or TypePad. Whichever format you choose, it's a good idea to look for widgets and code that can add social bookmarking buttons to the site immediately. Remember that this makes it very easy and efficient for your readers to start submitting something they read to multiple social bookmarking networks and search engines; all you have to do during these stages is provide quality content on a regular basis, and work on generating a large amount of traffic. Traffic will build on itself, and the more-established your blog becomes, the higher the chances that it will be discovered.

As your content starts to join the networks such as StumbleUpon and Digg, you'll notice immediate surges in traffic. Traffic is driven largely by the number of interested visitors who rate and vote on your site, and how valuable the content is to a variety of readers. Not only do you need to focus on creating evergreen and valuable content on a regular basis, but it's important to make it easy for search engine rankings with the appropriate amount of keywords.

INCREASING YOUR BLOG'S POPULARITY WITH SOCIAL BOOKMARKING

The only way to effectively increase your blog's popularity with social bookmarking is to spread out your endeavors across multiple social media sites. This may include Technorati, Google Links, Del.ici.ous, and Yahoo! Links where your individual articles and submissions are mentioned either within another blog, or standing alone in a particular category.

Tools such as SocialMeter can help you keep track of how well your blog or webstie is doing in the social bookmarking networks at any given time. SocialMeter scans the largest social websites and ranks them against each other based on how many times your link or website is indexed in each one. You just type in your URL and the results will run a search on each site to give you a final tally.

Badges and 'chiclets', the tools that you can add to your blog or website are very effective ways to develop your social bookmarking activity. Your blog's popularity will instantly increase because you are:

1. Providing users increased interaction. You'll be surprised how many static sites that make this shift can start building traffic with very little direct marketing. Once the news spreads that you are offering this added value to your website, you can look forward to increased traffic on a regular basis.

2. Making it easy to reach Digg and other social bookmarking networks hat allow users to vote. Voting and rating articles is becoming a very popular activity on the web, and if you write something particularly compelling you can start to create a traffic boost overnight.

3. Increasing your exposure naturally in the social networking hemisphere. Social networking and bookmarking gives you a chance to increase your exposure tenfold; visitors who find an article worth sharing will help you reach a much more targeted and refined audience than simply publishing a website and hoping to get readers. You will be delivering your news and information with a much stronger reach.

In addition to promoting yourself on social bookmarking sites, there are some effective ways to market the blog itself. Again, this will encourage your visitors to share the 'news' from your blog on their own. Some effective strategies for blog promotion may include:

1. Join an RSS submission network. These will help you submit to an even larger listing of sites, all from the RSS feeds that you create. Syndication allows you to reach a much larger audience, and building a steady list of subscribers can increase traffic flow instantly.

2. Post announcements about your blog and website on forums, bulletins, and community boards. When you have identified your specific channels, start promoting yourself with news announcements, new articles, or simply an introduction to community members. Include your link and you'll easily start to drive traffic.

3. Join discussion groups and forums about your industry or topic, and leave a link to your blog or website in your profile every time you post.

Be consistent with these efforts and they will pay off big time.

Thought Process Of A Social Bookmarker

Social bookmarking offers many opportunities for marketers to collect information and learn about the behavior patterns of their customers, as well as firsthand reviews for particular brands and products. Social bookmarking sites are chock full of different perspectives and information, and all of this is stored in an easily searchable database.

Since like-minded individuals are creating tags on every item they post, it becomes easy to find relevant products and related subjects within each area of interest.

Social bookmarkers are primarily interested in learning more about products and ideas that interest them, and will network accordingly. They are more exposed to new information, whether this is pulled from blogs, media sites, or simply a product page from a business. The more involved marketers are with these social networks, the higher the chances of increased brand exposure. As more social bookmarkers participate in their communities, the buzz about a particular product or idea can easily be broadcast across multiple markets with very little effort.

The thinking process of a social bookmarker is relatively simple. First, they find an idea or product of interest. They then upload this information to the social bookmarking platform, whether this is a news site such as Digg.com, or a social shopping sites such as ThisNext.com. Next, they describe the product or idea, usually posting a brief summary that includes keywords and other relevant information. This is noted on the social bookmarking site's search engine, as well as the tags that are added to the item after this. Once complete, a picture or other media clip may be added, followed by the social bookmarker's signature (if it does not automatically get posted as part of the profile). Once submitted, the new item is organized and implemented into the appropriate category on the site.

Any new information posted to the site can now be viewed by the entire audience; subscribers to various channels will see new topics posted immediately, in a very similar format to an RSS feed on a blog. In either case, this fresh information will be on the 'roster' of all the people in that community. If others find it important as well, this increases the chances of sharing as they are more likely to 'note' it and include it on their lists.

But what does all this mean for the marketer?

Essentially, this means that the marketer or business can create unique content and products to send to various social bookmarking sites. Once they create a valuable presence, it becomes much easier to influence the decision makers in each and every community. This is the essence of social bookmarking and networking at its best; community building can create a network of influence that can now also be enjoyed by marketers and entrepreneurs on the web.

Increase Tenfold Your Web Presence With Social Networking Communities

Social networking communities offer another opportunity to join the social media channels. Every effort you make to identify your brand and web presence can be increased tenfold when you join a consumer-driven and user-generated community such as MySpace, LinkedIn, or other social networking platform. These sites encourage regular interaction in a casual and conversational style; although you won't be submitting specific articles or content, you will be growing your brand presence with your users. IN addition, you can use the Search features on any of these sites to narrow down your target market.

VIDEO SHARING

Video sharing can work well in conjunction with your article and content submissions, and is becoming especially popular with social bookmarkers. Creating and publishing videos to deliver a message can easily be picked up by many social bookmarkers and shared instantly; the idea is to create something unique and creative so that more people are driven to view it-and ultimately, head back to your website!

VIRTUAL REALITY AND EVENTS

Virtual reality and events are another way to attract new viewers to your website, and can create an instant impact with other marketing efforts. If you submit a press release about your event or the latest innovations on your website to different social bookmarking networks, the chances of increased exposure are much higher.

Making sure all of your submissions are tagged and indexed in the right categories will help you create a strong presence in the community; essentially, you are notifying your community of the upcoming event or news in press release form. If you catch onto a trend or other newsworthy subject, you can gain instant favor on a variety of social bookmarking communities such as Digg, Technorati, or Reddit. This is a great example of buzz marketing at its best, and can benefit your website promotion efforts in multiple ways.

ONLINE AUDIO EPISODES

Developing online audio episodes of content is quickly becoming a popular activity for bloggers and website owners, and including this type of media on your website can help you promote your work in a new way. The immediate attraction of audio on your website can also be submitted to social bookmarking sites and other media channels, and once you have a system in place for publishing these files on your site, you can start sharing the link on a regular basis. Sites including Digg and Technorati now have a section for podcasts and audio files; more people are becoming interested in simply listening than reading, and you can begin to reach a much wider market by taking advantage of this trend.

LIVECASTING

If you have a business or website that can create news, tips, or advice, then Livecasting may be another opportunity for you. These segments of online video are designed to share an idea, showcase an event, or even stage a seminar. The idea is to generate enough interested users who 'join' the session from anywhere; livecasts are online events that can be used to generate buzz. A press release that highlights the event can easily be submitted to social bookmarking sites and directories for instant exposure.

MEDIA SHARING

Media sharing is one of the precursors to social bookmarking and networking, developing from the concept of photo sharing and music exchanges. As these sites have grown, more people are learning to share and create profiles so that they can fit into different communities naturally. Flickr and Zoomr are just a couple of examples of these, and you can create a small profile of your own to join. Always remember to include al ink back to your main website, as this will be the ultimate driver of new traffic.

All of these social media platforms offer you an opportunity to establish a presence within a community, and then start to network with other individuals. Always keep in mind that any piece of content that is published on the web has potential for sharing; the link is what will be submitted to social bookmarking directories and networks, and you can work on building a profile of your won, or counting on your customers to do this for you. The goal is to create a valuable and consistent presence in a variety of social media outlets so that the chances of being bookmarked and shared are much higher.

Read This Before You Invest In Cheap Advertising

We will show your ad to 10 million qualified buyers for $20. Does this pitch sound too good to be true? Well, it probably is.

A business without a sign is a sign of no business. This is an advertising banner or quotation that can be seen in large billboards along the roads and on the side or top of buildings that is vacant. Television and radio would say. This program would not be shown or be heard without advertisement. It is true since most of us are watching the free television channel and programs are produced by payments of advertisements.

Business owners understand how important an advertisement is. It is in this manner that they would tell to everybody that they are selling products and offering services. They would not have sales, which in turn give them profit, if people would not notice and buy their products and avail of their services.

However, it is not happy to note that there are people who would try to steal money from advertisers and business owners by offering cheap advertisement packages and not delivering the agreed service. Business owners and advertisers should be informed of this because they would become victims of a scam.

The scam here is when the advertiser paid for these different kinds of services but none or some of them are not really even performed. The main point to consider here is to whom is the advertiser transacting with. To avoid being ripped off doing a background check by knowing the following will help.

-past successful projects as evident on customers comments
-a good reputation that will be confirmed by his references, (people that he's had past transaction with and that are also reputable)

The pay-per-click ad campaign is when an advertiser would pay a certain agreed amount by the search engine developers every time a user clicks on that banner. This was a good idea before it was not touched by hackers who developed a certain program to automatically click on that banner which increases the amount to be paid by the advertiser. The next paying scheme was the pay per action, which is harder to hack since the advertiser would only pay the search engine developers an agreed amount every time a sale would be done on that customer.

One thing is for sure, advertising in the Internet is not easy but it is fun, especially when one understands fully the power of the Internet. It is not a unidirectional means of advertising like the television or radio, but it is an interactive avenue for both the advertiser and the prospective clients.

The Wrong Type Of Advertising Will Cost Your Home Based Businesses Big Bucks

Many people running home based businesses are using the wrong types of advertising to advertise their businesses. This is the main reason most people are failing to earn any type of money online or offline. Most people have no clue how to market for their business. They end up using ineffective advertising techniques and end up quitting due to no money being made. Many companies have poor training and teach no solid marketing techniques. Many people are left out to hang and end up losing money, due to not having any marketing skills or training. This is the fundamental flaw with all businesses, a majority of business owners have no idea how to get more customers in their front door.

Many home based business owners are using ineffective advertising techniques. Many of these advertising techniques will end up costing them money and will end up giving them very few results, if any. Let's take a look at some of the advertising techniques which are truly ineffective.

First many people are using classified ads to try and build their businesses. This is very ineffective and this form of advertising can end up costing you big bucks. Everyone and I mean everyone is posting their business opportunities to classified ad sites. Why does everyone post to these sites? Simple, it is simple to post to these sites and hope someone sees your ad amongst the other thousand of business opportunity ads there.

Next people are using traffic exchanges to try and advertise for their home based businesses. Traffic exchanges are even worse places to use than classified ad sites. Traffic exchanges are a complete waste of time and are not worth your time or money.

Lastly many people are trying to use banners to advertise their business. This is also another ineffective way to build your business. Banner ads rarely get clicked on. Using banner ads is just another example of your money going down the drain.

What you will find in common with all of these forms of advertising is they do not work and they are highly oversaturated. You will find many people using these techniques to try and build their businesses. You will also find about 99 percent of all people trying to advertise using these methods, have no marketing experience what so ever.

Now if you are truly looking to build a business, you will have to work or have the bankroll to hire specialists to run your business for you. There is no quick fix, building a business will either cost you money or time. Here are a couple of suggestions on advertising anyone can use to build their business. First writing articles and press releases is a highly effective way to build your business. This is free advertising. The key when writing articles and press releases is to write daily. Many people will write one or two articles a month and give up thinking it doesn't work. But you must at least write 7 to 10 articles a week to be effective.

Using Pay Per Click advertising is also an effective way to advertise your business. But you must at least have a budget of $1,000 per month to be effective. It also helps if you or someone you know, knows what they are doing. It can get a little tricky when first starting out.

If you take anything out of this article you must remember your marketing campaign is the life of your business. Without solid advertising you are doomed to fail. With solid advertising for your home based businesses you can and will make a lot of money.

Generate More Traffic To Your Internet Marketing Business

Did you know that getting into internet marketing can quickly raise the status of your business when you operate from home? Generating traffic is one of the main aspects of making a success of your business because without traffic being driven to your website it will be impossible for you to accomplish your goals. So, how do you plan to go about this?

The good thing about having a home run business is the fact that you can never have too much traffic. Keep an eye out for ways to increase the volume of your traffic in order to enhance your income further. It is a good idea to find and stay with a small amount of excellent marketing techniques instead of using several different methods but it may well be necessary to try several before finding out which are most effective for you in your line of business.

You could consider submitting a site map to search engines as a technique to increasing your volume of traffic with internet marketing. Your site will then have more opportunity to be examined by the search engines. You are, no doubt aware, that with more visits from the search engine spiders, your site will slowly climb higher on the search engines which in turn will generate more traffic.

Do you understand how affiliate programs work and the affect they can have on your website? You can set up your own affiliate program which will provide you with a business within a business, where people are selling your services or product on your behalf. This is also another means of driving more traffic to your business.

Do you use forums? This is possibly the simplest way of increasing your traffic volume. There are hundreds of thousands of forums for you to choose from and you should opt for the forums with people whose interests rest in the niche of business you are involved with. By providing people with new and interesting information they are sure to check out your website.

Article marketing is another method which can enhance your site in a number of ways. First of all, it allows you to write new and appealing subject matter to astound your readers. Secondly, you can write about or promote whatever people are looking to learn about and lastly, by placing a bio box containing your URL when submitting your article to directories, you will direct the readers to your own website.

As traffic is vital for the victory of your website, using some of the above mentioned techniques will not only make your home business much easier to run, but also likely to hugely increase the chances of your business becoming a great success.

An Overview Of Basic Internet Marketing Methods

Internet advertising is becoming more and more popular simply because the entire world is rushing online. If you have your own business, you have to decide on what internet advertising method works for you. Ask yourself what are you going to avail of: the expensive internet advertising methods or the cheap ones? Others will pipe in "expensive!" immediately, but they don't know cheap internet advertising method attracts great benefits as well.

Here's the lowdown and a comparative look on the cheap and expensive internet advertising methods:

The Expensive:

1. Pop-ups. Not only is this expensive, but also outright annoying that visitors close pop-up windows without even bothering to know what they're all about. This is an internet advertising method that you can do without.

Fly ads are derivatives of pop-ups which are also equally irking to the visitors.

2. 1. Pop-ups. Not only is this expensive, but also outright annoying that visitors close pop-up windows without even bothering to know what they're all about. This is an internet advertising method that you can do without.

Fly ads are derivatives of pop-ups which are also equally irking to the visitors.

2. Pod casts.

Broadcast is to TV as pod cast is to internet. It's one sophisticated internet advertising method that can somehow hamper your budget. But if you're thinking results, pod casting is worth the money.

3. Paying the search engines.

How does this one work? When someone types in a keyword related to your site, your URL is automatically included in the first page of the top results. Fixed payment for the search engine allows just that. Expensive, yes, but if we're talking about Google and Yahoo search engines here, then don't give it a second thought.

This is associated with another internet advertising method: the pay-per-click system.

The Cheap:

1. Blogging.

Go along the bandwagon and blog about your website. This is an internet advertising method that is popular as of the moment, so you never have to worry that this will never spur outcome. All you have to do is sign up for a blogging account, post and voila! You don't even need to pay!

2. Submit to not-so-big search engines.

This is cheap and dependable. If you submit your site to smaller search engines, you have bigger chances to get bigger results. Remember that the search engine giants can dwarf and overlook your site easily, so this internet advertising method might just be the right one for you.

3. Text links.

This is not just cheap...this is virtually free! Let someone text link your site and return the favor.

Cheap versus expensive, that's always the question that hounds on whenever we're trying to get something. In the field of internet advertising, just be wise enough to figure out what will suit your needs. Go for what you want as long as there are visible results.

The Selling Power Of Advertisements May Be Greater Than You Think

Today we are all inundated by advertisements everywhere. It does not matter where you are, where you go, or what you are doing, you are bound to run into advertisements of some kind. We can see them on television, it makes no difference if you watch yours through cable, satellite, or even on your cell phone, there will be commercials or advertisements that make you want to buy things.

That is what advertisement is all about. It triggers thoughts in our minds that make us feel a need for something. Even our sub conscience can not escape these commercials and ads. You can be driving down the road and see a fast food restaurant and become hungry just because there is a vague recollection of hearing about the latest special , even if you can not recall what it is.

There are many different forms of advertising, but almost all of them are affective in some way. There are billboards along our highways. Our newspapers are filled with them. The radio and television are flooded with them every few minutes. The internet is certainly not immune to them either. Even some channels and stations that claim to be commercial free, like some of the Public Broadcasting television channels, still advertise their station and have drives to raise money. They do have to get their support from somewhere.

One of the few entertainment sources we have today that is free of commercials is satellite radio. You pay for a subscription to satellite radio and that is the reason why you do not have to deal with commercials.

There are funny commercials and serious ones. There are long ones and short ones. There are always those that seem to come on or pop up every where that are so annoying. It can seem really ironic that the ones that annoy us the most are the ones that sometimes we pay the most attention to, evidently annoying works.

There are even special shows that come on network, cable and satellite now that are all about commercials. They can win awards for the best one of the year. We can see commercials from all over the world, as if we do not have enough in our own country we must endure, we actually seem to enjoy watching the ones from everywhere else too.

Whether we love them or hate them, whether we let them influence us or if we ignore them, they are there. They will probably be around forever. As long as there are people who need to buy things, there will be someone trying to sell it to us through advertisement of some kind.

Pay Per Play - PPP Advertising - An Internet Gold Mine or Fools Gold?

Recently, I received an offer for Pay Per Play advertising. If you haven't heard of it, in a nutshell it is a 5 second audio commercial that will play each time a visitor hits your site. You will get paid for every visitor to your website, 100% conversion with nothing to do and nothing to click. To me, this concept is huge. TV and Radio have been doing this to us for years, whether or not we want to hear an advertisement, it is presented to us. The big corporate giants have been branding themselves this way on TV and radio for a millennium. Sure you can change the channel to avoid an advertisement, but; you have already heard the sponsors message. I get up and leave the room when the commercial stretch comes on during a program I'm watching. I have commented to my wife on numerous occasions that there are way too commercials during my favorite shows.

Pay Per Play is different though; it's a one shot, 5 second clip. It's here and then it's gone. It doesn't play over and over and there is never more than one. If a major advertiser wants to throw me a few pennies to say their name on my website, more power to them. To me, it's all upside for the website owner; or so I thought.

I went to the site and read everything I could find and my conclusion at the end of my research was favorable. Then I did a search on Pay Per Play on the search engines. What was a solid decision in the beginning became a bit unsteady; but for me, I believe the scale still tips toward Pay Per Play being a good addition to a website.

I found that across the web, Pay Per Play is being met with mixed emotions. Pay Per Play is not scheduled to go live until February 1st, 2008 so everything is speculation about it's debut and further it's efficacy to publishers and advertisers alike. Some believe Pay Per Play will rival Google AdSense for revenue to it's publishers. Others are not so sure, in fact many netizens have come right out against such an unwanted intrusion and vowed to immediately leave a website if such an audio message is played over their speakers.

I also found that there is some dirt being thrown about the company that has brought the concept to market. To mention them here is not appropriate; but due diligence is warranted if you think Pay Per Play is a good opportunity for your sites. As with any new opportunity, the people that come to the table have histories of successful and not so successful ventures and there seems to be some bad blood regarding a previous affiliate program. If I were being asked to lay down a large amount of cash here, I might have some reservations and be inclined to do more research before moving forward. With Pay Per Play as it is, there is no upfront cost, so to me the company and the players will start with a clean slate; but I will keep a keen eye to make sure everything stays on the up and up.

This opportunity seems to be profound. I have often compared the internet to the California Gold Rush in the 1800's. Many, many affiliate marketers that were lucky enough to get in before the Dot Com crash had the opportunity to mine the easy gold and make huge piles of cash with not a lot of effort. Fast forward to today and the rest of us show up and find there is real money still left to be made; but it will require rolling up our sleeves and working harder and smarter to find the gold. Ahh and be ever cautious of the fools gold! In the gold rush days, many a fortune were lost on Fools Gold.

So that begs the question, is Pay Per Play a new found gold mine or is it fools gold? Will it rival Google AdSense? The jury is still out on the answer; but somebody, somewhere will stumble onto the next big internet wave.

Rick London has written numerous articles regarding Article Marketing and Affiliate Marketing. His work can be found at http://articles.affiliatesuccessbuilder.com . To find out more about Pay Per Play go to: http://www.affiliatesuccessbuilder.com/PPP.html.

How Tagging And Pinging Work

Tagging and pinging are common terms used in social bookmarking and web publishing, and it's important to learn how to do both effectively when you need the top rankings on sites and search engines. Search engines and social bookmarking aggregators work in very similar ways, and the most effective strategy for gaining prominence in either of these is to code your copy correctly!

TAGGING: WHAT IS IT?

Developing search-engine friendly copy has become even easier with the introduction of tagging widgets on a variety of web publishing interfaces. Tagging is simply a process of breaking down your submissions into keywords. Keywords of relevance are usually general in scope, and will make your copy fit into a variety of indexes and categories with a few simple tweaks.

Consider tagging to be a condensed version of your main idea. This is an effective approach when you are trying to make sense of the process, and the best way to do it is to start with your heading and title. Your title will serve as the main source of indexing by search engines, and you can make it stand out even more by adding relevant tags.

As a general rule, you'll want to make sure you are also using the appropriate tags and meta-tags in descriptions and heading titles. Both Yahoo! and MSN use these areas to index anything you publish, and it's important that they are relevant and free of spam.

Still, tagging within a social bookmarking site offers multiple benefits. Many social bookmarking sites such as Digg and Technorati make use of tag clouds that break out each article and section it off to different categories. Using keywords such as 'internet' or 'computer' for example will automatically list your article or submission in both areas. It's just another way for users to find articles or entries of relevance; whenever they click on one of these tag clouds, a full listing of articles with those tags will show up on their screen.

A growing number of portals and websites are offering tagging systems to index content. This is especially helpful for blogs and other larger resources where context is highly important. Think about the millions of articles and entries on the web today, and how difficult it would be for someone to find your specific article if they could only find you with a few keywords. Tagging helps to create context and relevance within different categories, and once a user has reached the social bookmarking platform; it makes it much easier to find you.

More people are becoming comfortable and familiar with using tag clouds to group and find the information they need; your website can reach a much wider audience when it's easily found in a variety of areas, instead of just under one content page or index.

As each social bookmarking site indexes and aggregates the incoming data, patterns of tags start to emerge; the more popular a particular theme or idea becomes, the larger the tag cloud. You'll notice this as you review different tag clouds, and you'll see some words standing out far more than others. This means that more people are submitting articles with the same tags, and more people are viewing them. It's an easy way to monitor and review how well specific topics are doing at any given time.

TAGGING: HOW TO DO IT

Tagging each entry you submit will become a habit, but you do need to make sure that the tags are relevant and free of spam. Only use keywords that actually apply to your entry; if you start using extra words simply to gain exposure or search engine placement, another user may report it and you may be forced off the network.

Think of tagging as labeling all of your data; you are creating an easily index-able system so that search engines and social bookmarking sites can find and place your article. Breaking down your article into a 'notes' form is a very effective strategy for rising to prominence!

You'll need to break down your main idea into general topics, then narrow it down to more specific keywords. Titles in your article are a good way to start, and you do not need to include words such as 'the', 'it', or 'a'. If you do, the tagging system will usually just take them out. Be sure to pick keywords that classify your submission the best; while there are no limits to the number of tags you can add, it's important to limit them to only those of relevance.

PINGING: WHAT IS IT?

Pinging has quickly become a popular activity with the social networking boom, and in most cases it is an automatic process. Pinging is the process of identifying your IP address and making sure that it is a valid address for search engines. Pings identify the web address to various hosts, and once the address is verified, it can be networked and updated in search engines and indexes.

Bloggers make use of pinging when in cases where posts are not updated automatically. Pinging allows the user to update search engines and various indexes that a new blog posting has been submitted. This is necessary for indexing purposes only, and can help search engine spiders and indexers 'pick up' your submission much faster. Old search engine strategies required manually entering sites and submissions for pinging; today, however, most publishing platforms take care of this process automatically.

Getting On Social Bookmarking Sites Front Pages

Given how simple it can be to get information in front of influential customers, it only makes sense to take the steps to get on the front page. The front page of social bookmarking sites offers an opportunity for increased page views, visitors, and increased exposure across multiple channels. Getting on the front page makes it easy for millions of visitors to get the 'first impression' with very little effort. Still, it's not an easy process. Sites such as StumbleUpon.com, for example, can generate as much as 20,000 page views after just one showcase on the front page. But how is this possible?

The first step in reaching the top ranks is to develop a creative headline. All articles on social bookmarking sites that have some leverage contain a unique and compelling opening; they encourage readers to click on the link, and essentially draw people in. It may be helpful to brush up on article-writing and effective web copy to understand the guidelines for writing compelling headlines.

The next step is to right an appropriate description. Descriptions are essential for ensuring your captive audience stays with the article through completion. The first 10-15 words can make or break the article, and this is the time to keep the information short and concise but informative enough to keep the reader engaged. Some social bookmarking sites don't allow more than 150 characters, so you may need to edit the text down according to site standards.

After reviewing the headlines and description, you will need to make sure the first paragraph is just as compelling. You've grabbed the user's attention, and now it's time to continue on with a unique presentation. Posting irrelevant information may result in banning from the site, so it's important to stay within spamming guidelines.

If you are posting information from a blog, it may be simpler to just add a bookmarking button on the site. Bookmarking buttons can be pasted within a website or blog with some simple HTML code. You will simply copy the code and implement it on the site so that others can link to it easily. Or instead of adding bookmarking buttons one at a time from each social bookmarking site, you can run simple scripts that will add multiple buttons all at one time like the free script from http://addtobookmarks.com/

Once you've submitted your piece, it's important to network and 'socialize' with other people in the community. This can help you create an active profile with various communities, but also provide added exposure for relevant posts or links. Cooperation and collaboration on social bookmarking sites are essential for creating a valuable network, and you can gain an even more influential presence as you find the right networks and communities to join. Responding to comments, posting information on other people's articles or blogs, and just staying connected to various channels will help you build a positive online reputation.

6 Tips On How To Use Traffic Exchanges To Build Your Business

Traffic exchanges are wildly popular. You see them everywhere you look, but do they work? In this article we will answer that question and discuss how you can use traffic exchanges to build your business.

In simple terms a traffic exchange is just what it says. You exchange clicks on ads for potential traffic. I say potential because although your ad is being displayed that does not guarantee traffic. It just guarantees impressions or exposure.

To get people to look at your ad and then click on it and go visit your site takes some skill. This is how you use traffic exchanges to build your business if you do it right.

1. You keep it very simple. The first thing you notice when you are surfing ads for credits is that most people are promoting a sales page and you are waiting a few seconds so you can click on the next ad. A sales page is not simple. It is too long and most people will not read it.

2. Promote a landing page instead. A landing page or a splash page is short and is designed to get people to quickly give you their name and email address. Your landing page needs a good title, a couple of support statements, a free gift, and a short 2 line form.

3. Get a good autoresponder and follow up with your free gift and then anything else you want to promote. You are better off to give and give some more in the email messages you send. Eventually you can ask for an order, but that comes later.

4. Surf several traffic exchanges at one time. Click on one, go to the next, go the next, and so on. Using a browser with tabs like Firefox will help you do this quickly. Try to do 4, or 5, or 6 at a time if you can.

5. If you do not like one traffic exchange you have joined, replace it. Eventually you will find several that work well for you. Then work those every day.

6. Watch your email for any specials. Different traffic exchanges will offer double credit days, or incentives to get you to surf. Use those to your advantage and surf extra hard with them on those days.

Traffic exchanges will work if you work them. The nice thing is they are free to join and can give your business a jump start when you have more time than money.

Dos And Donts Of Submitting Content

Even though submitting your own content first hand is a practical way of getting some immediate results, it will not work in the long term. Ideally, you will set up a system where fans and visitors are voluntarily submitting content that they find on your site. If a story is on your site, you will want to have a friend submit it on your behalf. Remember that anonymity is difficult to keep on maintain on most social bookmarking sites, and it is better to be a participant as a social bookmarker with relevant links than actively promoting your own. The idea is to create a positive presence within the community of your target market; the chances of interactivity are much higher, and you won't be breaking any community guidelines as a result.

Buying votes has become a popular way for many 'successes' of content on social bookmarking sites, but will not necessarily help you grow authentically. A large part of successful networking is the organic growth involved; this means you need to put time and effort into community-building, and the success of your site will largely depend on the quality content you create and the frequency of visitors.

It is essential to avoid spamming in any way or form at all costs; spamming will break community guidelines and possibly have your website delisted from the network-for life. You'll want to participate positively and build a reputation so that you do not become vulnerable to spamming as often as possible.

Be generous about linking. You can do this by including links in articles, linking out to sources, and even including links within a blog. AS you develop fresh content, make sure to send a quick e-mail to the article owners that you link to; this can create an instant new fan or prospective customer, and will help with building business relations overall.

After a significant amount of time and effort, you can become a top user on a variety of sites. Gaining this status in different communities will provide additional exposure, and thus increase the likelihood of others linking to you. If you can submit quality content on a regular basis, it will help you build a reputation that's hard to break!

Stimulating traffic by using social bookmarking leverage is a very effective way to grow your online business. The key benefits of using social media in this way are to:

Become linked on as many social bookmarking sites as possible
Create a pool of new subscribers
Obtain backlinks from authority sites-these will naturally drive traffic with little direct marketing effort
Comparable return on investment from e-mail marketing and direct SEO

Keep in mind that there are five main sites to focus on when you first start out: Digg, StumbleUpon, Netscape, Reddit, and Del.icio.us. Furl and Yahoo MyWeb are two others that offer some benefits, but you will need to take some time to review their potential.

Apart from the active work of submitting each piece of content, it's important to pay attention to the type of content that you are developing on the website.

Quality is even more important today as search engines are only indexing relevant and appropriate content that is balanced in keywords. The days of excessive keywords and even SEO-based content are declining, and search engines are becoming much smarter at recognizing and identifying information that is relevant to a site, subject, or topic. As a result, it's important to create content that is both informative and search engine friendly.

By providing useful content on a regular basis, you are building site popularity, encouraging new visitors, and giving search engines a chance to index your site on the top ranks.

Best Technique for Improving Online Directory Traffic

It is imperative that a advertising directory be popular and highly visible in order for it to be a reliable search tool for products and services. If a advertising directory is not well known then not many people will go there to search for products and services. Advertisers will then find it not effective in helping to direct customers to their business premises.

In an effort to improve traffic and visibility maybe we can try out an innovative idea to draw traffic to the site. We can make use of the network marketing concept which has proven to be very effective in MLM around the world. Network marketing is simply spreading the features and benefits of a product or service by word of mouth. In its simplest form it just means that we tell someone we know about something we have just enjoyed. Perhaps it is a good meal. Perhaps it is a good movie. There is no monetary or other benefits here, just sharing with someone you know or love something that you have just enjoyed.

From there we proceed to give incentives for spreading the word. Lucrative compensation plans are then drawn up to provide incentives to customers for helping to tap on their network of friends or business associates. Here, we can improvise and make use of this concept to draw traffic to an advertising site.

First, we remind customers that the primary objective of the advertising directory is to provide friendly listings for advertisers where they can be found easily. A simple commission of a percentage of the sales of each advertising space will be given to advertisers for referring new customers. We will have to make sure that advertisement costs are not deterrent to the entrepreneur. We do the proper research to identify the market segments and the amount they are willing to pay for advertising.

On top of that give overriding commissions to customers who in turn recommend other customers to the directory. We can afford to give quite a bit of commission because memory storage space is cheap nowadays due to the continued advance in technology resulting in smaller hard disk storage space with larger capacities and lower costs.

This sort of compensation scheme should work to stimulate and popularize the site for the benefit of all especially the advertisers, the prospective customers who search for products and services, as well as the owners of the site who are content to settle for a very small margin in exchange for traffic.

It may be the way to beat free sites which up till now have not really been attracting the desired traffic due to many other competing free sites. Although most people believe that customers will automatically gravitate towards free sites, with too many people having the same idea, advertisers are then at a loss as to which free site they are going to advertise in. Of course, they may choose to put up ads in all the free sites but this might be too much of a hassle. Most advertisers then resort back to their familiar Yellow Pages for their advertising needs, or lately, Alibaba.

With a new plan to offer incentives to advertisers new sites may stand a better chance in winning the traffic game and in the process help advertisers do more business and improve their bottom line.

What Is Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking is based on the concept of sharing information on the web, and has evolved rapidly with the growth of the internet communities and interactive sites. As more people turn to websites to learn, research, and even read the latest news, the ability to track and monitor this behavior is becoming even easier.

Collective intelligence is leading the wave of sharing information based on specific keywords and subjects, and can help marketers and business owners in many ways. Today's social networking sites are incorporating many social bookmarking elements into the platform. This allows users to learn even more about each other, and is engaging people online by building communities, opening up new networking channels, and giving marketers and business owners a chance to track behavior.

The Wikipedia definition for social bookmarking states: "an activity performed over a computer network that allows users to save and categorize (see folksonomy) a personal collection of bookmarks and share them with others. Users may also take bookmarks saved by others and add them to their own collection, as well as to subscribe to the lists of others. - a personal knowledge management tool."

Each social bookmarking site is designed differently, but ultimately allows users to create a profile, update their preferences, and share this information with friends and family. Since they are creating this growing network of information, a pattern of tastes and preferences is established-and made publicly available.

This profile is the key element of interest to marketers; it's created with basic registration and in most cases, an e-mail address and login name allow complete access to the social bookmaking platform. The visitor can begin publishing their activity to share with fellow social bookmarkers, and this creates a network of categories.

Discovering and sharing information with keywords in specific topic is what allows social bookmarking networks to grow; as more information is provided, the categories of interest also develop to provide key information.

Digg.com is a perfect example of social bookmarking that is growing rapidly. Users can rate and comment on articles, video content, and podcasts on thousands of topics; the more popular items are posted on the Digg.com front page, while others are rated and logged for the community to review.

While Digg.com is primarily a news site, it is just one example of a valuable social bookmarking network that has developed into a proliferating online community. Any articles or information that is posted on Digg.com has the potential of being viewed by millions of visitors. Getting to the Digg.com front page ensures thousands of page views, all at a very low initial cost. Of course, the information that reaches this level must be valuable to Digg.com readers; since the votes are all user-generated, it allows anyone submitting information to learn about their audience from the ground up.

How Advertising Can Drive You Traffic?

Advertising is the key element of any business. If the advertisement thrives, it can mean immense traffic that generates thousands of dollars in income. Advertising requires original thinking because conventional advertising mediums are becoming very costly.

Advertising is the best method to make sure that customers learn about your products or services. But the real question is; are you getting the proper returns on investment on your advertising dollar? Do you feel that your promotion dollars and advertising overheads are giving you the results that you want? Probably you have been wondering where to advertise your business. Stop wondering, just look for a website that has the potential to draw thousands or millions in traffics and your business will surely benefit.

Most advertising sites offering only one of three main categories of directories, that is, classifieds, normal directory or jobs. If you find sites that offer all three probably the traffics generated is greater.

The common features integrated with classifieds directory advertising usually contains more than ten categories including houses for sale or rent, apartments for sale or rent, shops for sale or rent, and offices for sale or rent, cars for sale and business opportunities and son.

On the other hand business directory advertising normally associates more than 2,000 categories of listings to get wider circulation. Among the more popular categories are advertising, airlines, banks, beauty salons, bus lines, computers, charities, travel agencies, building contractors, renovators, consultants and interior designers, florists, hospitals, hotels, transportation, car rental, car accessories, office furniture, restaurants and photographs retail centers.

Recently, jobs advertising space has become widely demanded. Most college or university leavers are desperate looking for job. Most common fundamentals in job advertising usually contains more than 60 job categories under the main headings of accounting or finance, human resource and administrator, sales or marketing, arts or media or communication, services, hotels or restaurants, education and training, computer or information technology, engineering, sciences and health care.

Web Surfers from all over the world can search for and view products and services advertised and do business with the advertisers.

The importance of advertising in a directory is outlined as follows:

1. Supply necessary information

The customer may be looking for more information than just name, address and telephone number. They may need product or service details.

2. Complete directory representation

Sometimes a company may be known by two or more names. They may deal in two or more types of products or services. Therefore, an advertiser may want to advertise in different names and classifications.

3. Supply attention and value

Directory advertisements offer aggressive business a chance to secure a bigger ad space, thus showing itself to be more prominent than its competitors.

4. Trade mark and trade name identification

Customers may be just looking for a company trade name which is better known instead of its company name.

5. Focus attention on a specific product or service

If a product or service can be obtained from several sources an advertiser will benefit if he can point out the advantages of buying from him instead of his competitors. He can do so in a directory.

6. Maintain prestige

Directory advertising is special advertising which differentiates a prestigious business from an ordinary one.

Advertisers must understand the above functions of an online directory. They must be able to differentiate directory advertising from general advertising. When directory advertising is confused with general advertising sales executive from a directory company will face a very serious problem because he will meet with strong resistance and put into a class of media with fierce competition where magazines, television, newspaper, radio, exhibition and dozens of other types of salesmen battle for a place in the businessman advertising budget.

In most businesses all advertising is designed to build a desire for the company products or services. Directory advertising is used after the prospective buyer has already decided to buy. He is just looking for the seller. Therefore, general advertising is concerned with a product looking for a customer. Directory advertising is concerned with a customer looking for a product.

All in one directory are fast becoming popular and are expected to boost traffic to the site and thus improve an advertiser chance of doing more business.

Marketing Plans Are Essential To Your Business

Most business owners do not have any marketing plans. Marketing plans are very important to have for a business. Marketing is the key to sales. No marketing, no sales, it's that simple. Having a variety of marketing plans going at one time gives you more leverage and more exposure. It also helps you see what is working and what is not working in your marketing campaigns. Having only one marketing plan in action can actually hurt your business. Let's say your marketing plan proves to be ineffective, you must then build a whole new marketing plan and start from scratch. Now let's say you have multiple marketing plans working at once, you now have a variety of results to look at. Then you can pick and choose what works and what doesn't work. Marketing is all about testing/trial and error.

Many business owners make some key mistakes when creating their marketing plans. First they expect their first marketing campaign to be a huge success. Now this may or may not happen but marketing is all about trial and error. You must learn from your marketing plans. You must look and see what worked and what did not work. Then adjust your marketing plans and start a new campaign. This is how you market effectively. It's all about trial and error. Let say you see a certain ad pulling in all kinds of new business. Before you jump the gun and throw your entire bankroll behind the ad, run a couple additional tests to see how well the ad pulls in different markets. You want to do as much testing as possible before you come out with a major marketing campaign. Once you have everything as it should be, take full advantage of your marketing efforts.

Another key mistake I see with many business owners is they have either no way of tracking their marketing campaigns or they do not track their marketing campaigns. Not tracking your marketing efforts is bad for business. You must be able to see what is working and what is not working. Then you can stop spending in certain areas and increase spending in areas which are working. You must track your marketing campaigns in order to produce the most amount of sales for your business. Yes you can still have an effective business without tracking your marketing but it is kind of like cutting a steak with a butter knife.Yes it is possible to cut a steak with a butter knife but you make cutting the steak so much more difficult. Just like not tracking your marketing campaigns.

Building effective marketing plans is vital to building a business. Marketing is a key component to business. You should always have a budget setup just for your marketing efforts. I cannot stress how important marketing is to any business planning to become successful. I would even go as far as hiring a marketing company, if you have no experience in creating effective marketing plans.

How Internet Marketing Came To Be The New Direct Response Marketing

Before the dawn of Internet marketing, there was direct response marketing. It involved sending long sales letters by postal mail to customers about a certain product; the direct response marketer wanted the customer to fill out the order form and mail it back to the address posted with his/her order information included.

This was (and still is) a very effective form of marketing, but was (and still is) quite expensive - sending out just 1,000 letters can cost you at least $2,000. It also takes good to great sales copy in order to convert those prospects into customers; if your sales copy falters, your financial loss will be that much larger, as you won't recover much of the cost from sending out those letters.

With the advent of the Internet, a new direct response marketing was born. Using the Internet, marketers could now quickly and inexpensively send thousands of emails at the click of a button to potential customers, instead of relying on slower and more expensive snail mail.

Prospects can open the email, read the sales letter of the website you are promoting, and order the product using the "order button" on the website.

And while traditional products, like books and CDs, can still be sold over the Internet, a new type of product also emerged - digital products, including ebooks, MP3 files, and software programs. These digital products can be sent to the customers immediately after payment, just by redirecting them to the download area where they can download those products.

Due to the emergence of digital products, people's appetite for instant information continues to increase. The power of the Internet allows information marketers to be able to fill that need instantaneously.

Information marketers who do business on the Internet (a.k.a. Internet marketing) have great advantages over those information marketers who only do business offline:

- You can set up an online sales page in just a few hours.

- You can deliver the product(s) to your customers instantly after they complete their transactions.

- You can create digital products at far less cost than traditional books and CDs.

- You get your payment before you send out your product(s).

- You can automate the online sales process, allowing it to work for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Orders can come in anytime, even while you are asleep or away from your computer.

Conversely, offline marketers have to

- spend more in order to create their books and CDs.

- have to have retail space to store their inventory.

- advertise in magazines, newspapers, and other print media.

- have someone working for them to make sales, whether it's themselves (costing them time) or someone else working for them (costing them money.)

Online marketing is also becoming a richer industry because more and more people are coming online each year to make their lives easier. Tens of billions of dollars are spent online each year. The amount spent will keep growing each year for the foreseeable future, as Internet marketing isn't likely to go away or be surpassed by anything anytime soon. This is evident by the growing number of emails we get in our inboxes on how to solve every problem we have, from Internet marketing to weight loss.

Thanks to Internet marketing's accessibility to every one with an Internet connection, lower costs of doing business, and quicker delivery of products, it has become the "direct response marketing" of the 21st century.

Ralf Skirr has recently published 'Triple Your Sales', a special report on how to turn your web site visitors into paying customers. Go to http://homeofinternetmarketing.com/powercopy, get a free copy of this new internet marketing report, and learn how to make more online sales.

Reaching The World Through Media Advertising

Media advertising is a multi million pound business and incorporates some of the highest paid executives in the salaried world.

It is always specifically targeted towards a particular audience with clever tricks to entice people to buy every product on the market. In fact, without media advertising, many products fall by the way side and are discontinued.

Most media vehicles make the bulk of their money through advertising and the success of a whole company can ride very heavily on this. You can be sure the most stressed individual in a company will be within the advertising personnel.

Without a doubt these days, TV is the biggest medium for advertising. Reaching into virtually every home in the world on a 24 hour basis, campaigns are run by various companies to sell their products and services.

Christmas time is the biggest seller and advertisers know full well the pressure that children put on their parents to have the latest toy or the latest electronic gadget. The parents that can afford all these things will often buy out of the guilt they feel for going out to work and parents in some communities feel pressure from each other to make sure their child has all the latest gizmos.

To this end, from September through to the end of December, TV advertising is aimed at children. It is also a very predictable form of media advertising. Straight after Christmas comes the adverts for the January sales, closely followed by holiday advertising.

At the same time, we are bombarded with advertisements for diet clubs and beauty products to help us recover from the festive season. However, TV as an advertising medium can also be very effective at reaching the widest audience for educational purposes and has often been used for health campaigns.

Magazines have a specific audience to target as they know the type of people that purchase their magazine. In fact, the last three pages of many women's magazines are devoted to cosmetic surgery advertising.

Women's magazines will be crammed with adverts for beauty products, plastic surgery and dietary supplements. It involves anything to make us look more youthful and more beautiful, depicted by beautiful women with huge eyes, eyelashes that should really require scaffolding for health and safety reasons and the flawless skin of a baby.

Men's magazines are similar in that they appeal to the ego with promises of a better body, usually symbolised with a toned man sporting orange skin waxed to within an inch of his life. However, the man's magazine will often have more lifestyle advertising, offering sports events and sports toys and gadgets for all his spare time.

Even children's comics will contain a certain, though limited, amount of advertising.

Radio is another avenue for media advertising though not as widely used. People listening to radio will be interested in some of the advertising but attention span is usually short and too much advertising will cause a listener to change channels rather than buy the advertised product.

National newspapers devote approximately a third of their daily newspaper to advertising and can be quiet useful if you are looking for something specific. Each day will usually be targeted towards a specific type of advertising, whether it be financial, holidays, recruitment or classifieds.

Local newspapers, as well as local radio, are good mediums for advertising local events and companies. This is a relatively cheap way of advertising and reaching potential customers in your immediate area.

If you are looking for something in particular then specific publications are a good way to find the product or service you need, for example, gay and lesbian publications are a good place to look for recruitment because you can be sure of being placed with an employer who is not biased in any way.

In general, media advertising is to draw your attention to the products and services available. It also a way of convincing you that you need something when you don't. It is an easy way of playing to people's egos and convincing them that if they just bought this product they could look better, have a better lifestyle, be richer, be more popular etc etc.

Always make an informed decision of your own and do not be swayed by advertising techniques.
