The World Wide Web is known as the information super highway. With a click of the mouse, a person can find the perfect dress for a formal occasion or health advice, to determine if professional medical care is needed as soon as possible. Basically, if the web surfer can think of a topic, a product to buy, or an item to sell, he/she can find it on the web, with a few carefully selected keyword searches.

The question is: where does all the information come from? Obviously, someone is writing articles for publication on the Internet. After all, the web is simply a means of disseminating information. The knowledge displayed has to come from someone. So, why does a person take time to write articles, and what is the compensation factor?

The main reason for writing articles is to inform the reader. The message is generally to educate the public, a marketing tool, or both. First, the altruistic reason is to give the reader valuable information or advice.

For example, a teacher may have web site articles to help students find educational material. Some schools may even have resources for parents and students to check grades, scheduled extra curricular activities, and academic dates.

An individual suffering from an illness may want to provide support and helpful information to others who feel sick and all alone. For example, the renowned Mayo Clinic has a medical site. Searchers can look up medications and find out information regarding the benefits and possible side effects. Also, an individual diagnosed with a chronic illness, such as diabetes, crohns, or heart disease, may want to locate a support group.

One of the most popular reasons people seek information on the Internet is interpersonal relationships. Cyber dating is on the rise. Entrepreneurs are essentially making big bucks by instituting a lonely-hearts club- a virtual matchmaking service. If an individual knows how to utilize a computer mouse, he/she can find the information and assistance for every aspect of life.

In addition to assistance, writing articles is also necessary to bring potential customers to an entrepreneur's site-an individual selling a product or service. For example, a newsworthy, or even entertaining, article attracts the reader. Enticed, the viewer may decide to explore the well-placed links to see what the writer is all about. Since the article is generally related to the product or service presented on the site, writing articles brings in potential clients or customers.

The more site viewers reading the article, the greater the opportunity to garner a sale, and build a returning customer base. Simultaneously, writing articles can become a lucrative business for the writer, and the end result often brings revenue to the client. Therefore, writing articles is a win-win situation. Internet marketing is a steadily growing business.

Today, corporate executives are trading in the sixteen-hour day job, for a chance to earn a substantial income with an Internet enterprise, and still be able to spend time with the family. From the comfort of a living room or home office, a growing number of forward-thinking individuals have actually managed to realize a 6-figure income.

Likewise, on the other end of the spectrum, the individual writing articles, used to promote and link back to the business, can also work from the comforts of home and make a decent living without ever walking out the front door. Thus, writing articles can result in great jobs for frustrated executives, stay-at-home moms, and people with limiting disabilities. Great!

The option to work from home is great for many single parents who do not want to be away from their kids, or who cannot afford a babysitter. Writing articles is also an excellent way to earn extra money in the evenings or on the weekends.

In a perfect world, writing articles can promote a passion and earn an income. For example, some sites will pay an individual to write about a subject he/she actually lives every day. A person with diabetes can write articles to help fellow diabetics, and earn money at the same time. While a site may sell products diabetics need, the articles are also available to inform and encourage.

Even if an entrepreneur does not have the time or ability to write articles compelling the reader to take action, articles are available for rewriting, reprinting, and redistribution. In addition, to give a site fresh and original material, writers-for-hire are available. A good key word search will provide a plethora of writers or ghostwriters, who are willing to sell the ownership of the written word, and the businessperson can claim authorship.

So, if an individual has an important message to share, a product to promote, or a service to sell, a valuable tool for increasing readers and web traffic is article writers.

As we all know, your online business needs all the advertising it can get to boost your sales and profits. Every business can benefit from having lots of exposure and publicity. But it's sad to say that PR firms, although they are quite effective, they tend to be too expensive for most people.

There is good news though, you do not have to rely on paid methods of advertising. You can take care of the advertising need yourself for free. Impossible? No, Not really.

The first thing you need to do is study, research or take some courses in writing press releases and setting up a media kit. There are tons of useful articles published online that detail how press releases are done. Usually, they can help you write a newsworthy copy in a page or two.

Try to use words that grab the attention of your readers. It's best to post these press releases on a regular basis. They provide instant and free advertising for your business.

Here are some other ways you can get free advertising:

1. Write a review. Do some site-hopping and when you find a website you like, write a review about it. You can write about what caught your attention; the design and layout of the website, the unique services it offers and the benefits someone can get from visiting that site.

Then you can email your review to the website owners. Tell them that they can post that on their website as long as your resource box is included in it. Most website owners will be more than happy to publish your review.

2. Give testimonials. When you purchase a product or use a service that surpasses your expectations, send a testimonial to the company. Tell them about how useful their products have become to you.

Allow them to publish your testimonial on their site with your signature in it.

3. Sign guest books on other websites. When you stumble upon an interesting website, try to leave a compliment on their guest book. You can write about how well their site are designed, how you find it easy to navigate and how much you like their graphics, etc. Just use your imagination.

Add your signature or your website url so people will see it when they sign and read the guest book. Just do it in such a way that you are not blantenly advertising your website. Try to be subtle when you put in your signature.

4. Leave a message. There are tons of discussion boards open for comments or suggestions. You can leave your message in one or more of them. You could post interesting content, a compliment on their site or a question. Whatever you do, just make sure your signature is included at the end of your message with a link to your site.

5. Write a report or ebook. Then let other people give them away. People love getting things for free and these things are not an exception. Before you know it, your ebooks and reports will be all over the Internet.

To get the most out of free offers, try to make your content as targeted as possible. This is to make sure your target market will be interested enough to check out what you have to offer.

Getting visitors to come to your Internet site is the fuel for success of your home business online marketing promotion. You can build the greatest home business Internet site but if its marketing and promotion doesn't bring users to the site it's no good. Once those visitors are coming to your site your tracking software can let you know which pages they view and for how long and what brings them to the site and what page they are on when they exit the site. All this information helps you improve your site and the online sales process for your home business Internet marketing and promotion.

Your online marketing and promotion plan for your Internet home business should include the following goals:

* To get instant low cost traffic to your site so that these users can let you know if your Web sales copy works, if the order form is right, if the navigation is easy and if the opt-in e-mail offer is productive.
* To test whether the sales process you have set up online does the optimal job of converting your home Internet business - Web traffic into the greatest number of sales.
* To bring the greatest number of consumers to your Web site in the least amount of time.
* And to assure that putting your Web traffic marketing and promotion campaign on autopilot successfully grows your Internet home business.

When it comes to testing your Internet site prior to home business online marketing promotion a lot of entrepreneurs don't know how to test and what to test. The basics that you need to look at are the ordering process, the sales copy, the opt-in e-mail offer and the navigation of the site. The ordering process must be designed with the assumption that the consumer who buys from you has never done so online before. Make it so easy to navigate that the Web novice won't give up in frustration.

When looking at the sales copy on your site you want to pay close attention to how captivating your headlines are, how clear and influential the benefits are spelled out, that the guarantee is prominent and clear and that there is a strong call to action.

The opt-in offer must be prominent and inviting. If you are getting the contact information from the consumer you know it's working.

The most important thing to look at when testing your site's navigation is to make sure that someone who wants to buy your product or service online can do it in two easy clicks. More than that and you start to lose the interest of this instant-gratification audience - especially if your market is under 35 years of age.

------------------ ARTICLE START ------------------

When I think about digital signage, I'm sometimes reminded of the perpetually hungry, ever-growing plant from the musical "Little Shop of Horrors." You might remember that unusual flora. It's the talking, singing Venus Flytrap on steroids that constantly demands"Feed Me!" I can't help but think of that giant man-eating plant, because its appetite for flesh was as large and insatiable as that of digital signage for content.

Content is the currency of digital signage. Without it, digital signage would be about as appealing as looking at a dimly lit mirror. So, it's imperative that digital signage users source, create and schedule enough of the right kinds of content to attract and hold the interest of their audiences till they've delivered their intended message.

Not an easy task under normal conditions, the job is even harder when high definition is added to the equation. The appeal of HD content on a digital sign is straightforward. High definition television's ability to reproduce enough picture detail to convey a previously unattainable sense of realism is powerful. Sports fans who watch their favorite teams in HD never want to go back to their ordinary TVs, and nature buffs who tune into Discovery HD Theater can feel overwhelmed at times by the Mother Nature's majesty.

Transplant that HD realism to a retail digital signage network, for example, where marketers want to create a specific mood or portray their merchandise in the best possible light. Under those circumstances, understanding the allure of high definition to digital signage marketers is as clear as an HD image itself.

However, the issue of sourcing HD content -particularly video originated in high definition- is significantly less clear. While it seems that every week another press announcement trumpets the arrival of a new TV channel or cable network in HD, the reality is the video production industry is still in a transition period between conventional television and HDTV. HD content can be shot for your digital signage needs, but there is a strong demand for HD production services and limited supply -so be prepared. On a positive note, those content creators who wish to shoot their own HD digital signage content have a broad selection of relatively affordable camcorders from which to choose.

Another source of HD content is your company's film library. Remember continuous-tone film is a high-resolution -or at the risk of confusing things "high definition"- medium. Film can be transferred to HD video, and depending on your project, doing so might make sense.

Upconverting standard definition television to HDTV is an option as well. Depending on how you intend to use the content, this may be an entirely suitable solution for your HD content needs. While it may not be ideal, upconverting select content has significant advantages over shooting original HD material in terms of cost, speed and opportunity. Remember, many programs you're ooing and ahhing at today on your HDTV may include sequences that have been upconverted from standard definition footage. That's especially likely to be the case for historical file footage.

If you're not looking for original HD content, you're options are a little broader. Cable, satellite, and even Telco TV services make a variety of channels and networks available in high definition. It is even possible to turn a computer with a USB 2.0 port and a USB device that's an ATSC tuner along with a loop antenna into an HD receiver/digital video recorder for terrestrial (over-the-air) broadcast HDTV content. While I specifically am not advocating unauthorized use of copyrighted material, the availability of the USB HDTV tuner and recorder does increase your flexibility and options.

Feeding digital signage's insatiable appetite for content has never been easy, and HD makes the task even more troublesome. But you are not without options. Originating HD content, transferring existing film assets to HD and upconverting ordinary video content to high definition are starting points. With time, HD production capabilities will become so prevalent that creating high definition content will be taken for granted. Until that time point, creative digital signage content pros will assess their resources and employ the options that make sense today.

Once you have become an expert in network marketing, you will probably find yourself in the same position as others on the internet. Getting the word out to people that you are there and ready to help them make a bundle from their website. It will not matter how great your website looks, or how fantastic your product or service, if no one knows your site is there you will receive no business.

One of the ways many have found successful in advertising on the internet is through pay-per-click programs, or affiliate programs, which involve a third party planting your ad on their site and you pay them a pre-determined amount every time a visitor to their site clicks on your ad and visits your site. Payment to the third-party advertiser can be made based on the visit, or a percentage or fixed dollar amount of an actual sale.

This benefits you as it puts your advertisement in front of more people. Joining an affiliate promotions company could have your ad posted on several hundreds of sites, each one promoting their own site, giving you that much more exposure for which you pay only if others visit your site.

On the downside, one of the things search engines look for are outside links to your site and while all of the affiliates you have sign up with you do link to your site, due to embedded codes to track the site's visitors search engines may ignore those links.

Another method of advertising your network marketing business is to design your site around the information sought after by search engine spiders. There once was a time when having sufficient keywords listed in meta tags would draw their attention but the number of hits to websites with erroneous information led search engine developers to train their spiders to look for only good information. Many times in the past a search would turn up websites with totally unrelated information based on keywords alone.

Today's spiders also search for titles of web pages that relate to the search terms as well as quality information about the search terms. Your web pages should have quality text that provides information for which the person is looking, and not only on the index page. The meta tags, as well as quality textual information should appear on every page of your site where you want search spiders to look.

Getting your own site noticed by potential customers when they perform an internet search for advertising a network marketing business, will let them know that you know how to get the attention of search engines and may improve your standing among customers as well. By advertising your own business correctly, you will most likely pick up business advertising others' business.

It can be difficult getting your ecommerce business off the ground. Once you have the basics down, the products selected, website designed and promotion in place, what can you do to improve things? There are plenty of ecommerce tips and tricks to get your business moving faster than the competition. So, without further ado, let's take a look at some of them.

- Consider starting a blog. Whether on your ecommerce site or separately, you can start a blog to bring attention to your website. By their very nature, blogs bring in lots of search engines fast and repeat visitors. As long as you are posting useful information several times a week, people will visit your blog. You can list it in blog directories and link back to your ecommerce site at every chance you get!

- Creating fresh content is a good way to bump yourself up in the search engines as well. By adding articles weekly or more often to your ecommerce site, you stand a much better chance of the major search engines like Google checking you out on a regular basis.

- Keep your website simple and easy to navigate. That means eliminating unnecessary graphics and Flash animations, so you have a nice clean site. Also, contact and order information should be very obvious on every single page. Don't create subdirectories of subdirectories, everything on your site should be within two clicks of the home page.

- Stay focused by choosing your product niche and sticking with it. For example, if you sell used medical equipment, don't expand into used books. If you want to start another area, set up a second website so you don't confuse visitors.

- Double check your links. Simply by visiting your own ecommerce website and clicking on the links to make sure they work, you can save a lot of complaints and lost sales. No one likes a broken link and many people will simply leave your site instead of reporting it.
- Take advantage of your meta tags. They can actually get you a higher ranking on the search engines, so use them!

- Set up a merchant account so you can accept credit cards online. This will boost your sales dramatically. Also, being able to accept major payment services such as e-Gold and PayPal will help you make more sales since people trust these sites.

- Don't ramble in your product descriptions. People want to know the features and benefits in a few seconds and won't usually read anything longer than 2-4 lines, so keep it short! Web surfers have short attention spans.

- Update your information frequently. If you change your prices, make sure that the change is reflected on every page. This avoids a messy looking site with contradictive information in different areas.

By following the tips given in this article, you will find yourself boosting the visibility and popularity of your website. This is vital in maintaining your ecommerce site ahead of the competition!

There really is no such thing as too much traffic, and it is worthwhile to know as many ways as possible to keep that traffic flowing into your affiliate marketing website! Here are some of the more effective ways to get that traffic your online home business needs:

Generating Traffic With Sub-Domains

Many people who are successful with affiliate marketing use this effective method. Sub-domains are websites located within a directory in your main site, and have a domain name of their own, making them like independent sites. It is very easy and inexpensive to make a sub-domain site. They draw from the same resources used by the main website, so obviously you save the cost of getting another hosting account. This cost-effective method does use more bandwidth, but it is flexible and is a great way to bring traffic for your online home business on a low budget.

Search engines and links are mutually inclusive, you can't think of one without thinking of the other. Search engine spiders and robots take into account the number of sites linked to you, and their ranking. When you link your sub-domains to your main site, you will be enhancing and raising the ranking of all your affiliate marketing sites!

Banner Exchange Programs

Another popular way to attract traffic to your online home business is through banner exchange programs. This is a method where you share advertising space with other websites. When you do this with a relevant site, you get new clients and customers that you might have otherwise not been able to bring in. But remember not to clutter your website with these as too many can prevent your site from loading quickly, and that will defeat the whole purpose of your affiliate marketing business. Your visitors will simply close the browser window, and you will lose them forever.

Finding Alternative Markets

To keep your website attracting continuous volumes of targeted traffic, you must have alternative markets. Search engine spiders tend to pick up new content among your websites. Even a small change could put you in a category that you had not thought of earlier, opening up a whole new market for you, and possibly make your online home business more money. This is similar to placing keyword rich content on your site, to bring in traffic to your site and being affiliated with sites that are complementary to your affiliate marketing site.

Article Marketing

This method of boosting traffic for your online home business has become very popular amongst those who make a career out of affiliate marketing. How it works is simple: You write articles about things that have to do with your website and what you are promoting, and then you submit them to article directories. You must include a link to your site in the about the author box, that is where the magic is. After submitting some good, helpful articles, you will start seeing that hundreds if not thousands of sites are linked to you. It's amazing how fast it can happen. I highly recommend that if you are starting a career in affiliate marketing, then you should start submitting articles right away, you will not regret it.

In all advertising of the internet business ideas, the effectiveness of the ad and the headline is a result of a specific process.

1. An Ad Must Be Recoqnized.

If no one will recoqnize the ad of the internet business ideas, it is simply worthless, waste of money. The job of the headline is to grab the attention of the reader by promising something useful. It is clear that only those readers are interested about the headline, who have those kind of needs at the very moment.

2. A Headline Gets 5 Times More Readers Than The Body Copy.

Think about this. The body copy is just a more detailed explanation about the internet business ideas but is left unread, if the headline is not interesting. Another way round, some readers read only the headlines. This means that a successful headline must have content, something useful for the reader.

3. The Headlines Form Often A Directory, How To Differ?

How we read our morning newspapers? I think most of us look first the headlines and from most stories the headlines only. According to the researches people need at least 7 contacts about internet business ideas before they are ready to buy. This means that a headline has to differ from the crowd, for instance from the email inbox list, and to grab our interest 7 times before we are ready to buy.

4. The Headline Must Be A Promise.

The headline draws warm internet business ideas readers, who have the kind of the need, when they recoqnize and read the headline. The headline has to have an answer to the readers problems. Also if the headline has other values, it will make a reader to laugh, this means good in the future.

5. The Headline Must Sound Like News.

People are always looking something new and interesting. The news in the headline is like a magnet. It does not necessarily mean that there is something really new in the internet business ideas but the headline can just give that kind of an impression.

6. Longer Headlines Work Better Than The Shorter Ones.

According to the many researches, the longer headlines sell more products than the shorter ones. A longer headline is simply a more convincing because of the longer time of influence. In the marketing of the internet business ideas it is recommended to write headlines with max 12 words.

7. Use Some Magic Words.

There are two magic words: How To. Why do they work so well? People just want to learn how to. It raises the curiosity. The other two good words are: free and new.

8. Use Keyword In The Headline.

The keyword should be among the first 4 words so that the search engines can more easily find it.

9. Use Upper / Lower Cases.

It is effective to capitalize the first letters of the internet business ideas headline words but not the whole words. It just makes the headline more readable and a special looking. Do not add a period in the end.

10. Do Not Use Quotes Around The Headline.

One expert once said that a headline is a headline, not a quote. Do not include your name in the headline too.

11. Include A Numerical Value.

The researches show that numbers work well in the headlines. They give the credibility and an exact image to the headline. Odd numbers work best, excluding number 10.

You do not need to be a Pulitzer Prize Winner, the skill to write a strong headline is a technique, which is easy to learn. If the headline contains keyword and invokes curiosity, it will be read. This will bring the targeted website traffic, you so desperately need.

Media exposure can be defined as a promotion and publicity for the online success of your company. Media exposure of all kinds is one way you can boost your Web presence and increase the amount of Web site traffic. You need to make the media work for you. As a result, customers can easily find you, learn to trust you and your product, and keep coming back to your Web site for repeat sales. This, in turn, develops loyal customers. Your potential and existing customers are only going to buy products and services from a business they feel is trustworthy. To earn that trust and reliance, you have to make the most of media exposure. Doing so will build your credibility and ensure a secure position for your business as an expert in your target market. What works best is a combination of effective offline and online publicity and public relations geared toward affirming your corporate trustworthiness, reliability, and credibility.

The more positive your public profile, the more success you will have, both online and offline. This relates back to gaining credibility with the public and customers. Your public profile is your trademark for success and profits. Just as important, your online profile and business rating is critically important to how customers perceive you. Your local and state Better Business Bureaus are great organizations to join and obtain positive ratings. Other online business profile ratings services worth considering are www.resellerratings.com, www.epinions.com, and www.consumerreports.org.

Here are a few more tips to help you generate Web site traffic:

* Create What is New or New Products page. Site visitors like to see what is new, trendy, or just released. Make it easy for them;

* Establish a promotion program. The sky is the limit for promotions. You can offer free products, trial samples, or discount coupons. Everyone loves a bargain, so give it to them;

* Add content-relevant professional articles, news events, press releases, or other topics of interest on a daily basis to draw visitors back to your site;

* Include your Web site URL on EVERYTHING (business cards, letterheads, promotional items, e-mails, etc.);

* Put your URL into your email signature so you are constantly advertising your website;

* Put your Web site URL on your business card;

* Write free articles and submit them to other newsletters;

* Create an exciting contest on your website to draw in traffic. Free items and exciting contests are extremely popular and very appealing;

* List your URL on all offline advertising and printed materials (i.e. stationary, print advertisements).

When developing your marketing strategy to promote your Web site and business, take the time to promote yourself through a variety of media outlets. Increasing visibility in search engines such as Google and Yahoo is critical. Also important is a well-rounded marketing campaign that promotes your business and Web site through various marketing techniques.

The way you build your list has changed, but you still need that list, if you want to be successful with your internet home business opportunity. The problem is that creating and maintaining that list is hard work and to find the right products to sell can be time consuming and difficult.

In our local newspaper you pay for two advertisements and get the third one free, but the advertisement must run for three consecutive days.

Flyers are a very effective tool in promoting your work from home business offline. They are extremely cheap to produce. When you use your computer, it is free. You can distribute these flyers your self, get somebody to handout these flyers at the robots or make use of your local postal delivery service. Put some flyers up at the local supermarkets, shopping malls, town halls, bus stations or pretty much anywhere that you think people will be interested in, in what you are promoting. Just make sure in advance that the management of the establishment approves it first. Be absolute sure to include your URL in the flyer.

This is actually the truth about all Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising like Google Adwords

Yes, I am going to tell you what a lot of people haven't told you yet!

* It is true that Pay Per Click advertising is a great way to get instant traffic to your site.

* It is true that Pay Per Click advertising can increase your sales over night.

* It is true that you can make money working as an affiliate with Pay Per Click Adverting and you don't even need your own website.

* But the most important thing you need to know is MOST PEOPLE LOOSE MONEY using Pay Per Click Advertising.

The main reason for this is because they jump into it without really knowing what they are doing.

Imagine if you have never seen a car in your life and then some one tells you about them.

You jump into the car and start driving, do you think you would be successful the first time you tried?

OK, so you are one of the ones that says, "Yes, it is easy, I would be successful the first time!" This might even be true for some people but now let's change that car to a jet fighter or the space shuttle. Do, you still think you would be successful the first time?

Probably not.

Adwords and other Pay Per Click advertising is just like this. If you spend some time learning how to use it your chances of success will greatly increase. If you just jump in you will probably crash.

Google Adwords is especially complex. Not because it is hard to use, you can sign up today and have your ads running in minutes. But to use it right you need to learn about all the tools in your account.

* How to do split testing!

* How to read your statistics!

* The different type of campaigns you can run!

* How to track your conversions!

* How to find the right keywords!

It sounds like a lot but if you don't know these things you will probably be loosing money on your campaigns.

Believe it or not you can actually do all of these items with the tools built right into Google Adwords. Yes, they give you all the tools you need but you have to figure out how to use them before they will give you the results you are looking for.

Before you get into any type of Pay Per Click advertising or any paid advertising you should do some research on the subject. Just like you should do some research on driving a car before you jump behind the wheel.

There are lots of free and paid tools and courses available to help you run your Pay Per Click or Adwords campaigns. Use them, believe me the time you spend studying will be saved in both time and money in the long run.

Another key thing to note when you start using Adwords or any Pay Per Click it that it works much better if you are targeting a non Internet Marketing / non money making niche, especially for affiliate programs.

In other words you stand a much better chance of creating profits if you are promoting a hair care product then a product that will show you how to make a million dollars online.

Randy "The Hermit" Baustert has been helping people get their businesses online since 1999. He is the number one ranked search engine expert as ranked by www.ExpertRating.com and has even more information on Adwords at his site http://www.adwords.startingsteps.com

12. Create a short ebook or report with several affiliate links in it. Give others the right to brand a few of the affiliate links if they agree to give the ebook or report to their subscribers and visitors. That way not only will others make money by giving the ebook or report away, but you will get exposure plus make money off your affiliate links.

13. If you've been in Internet marketing for any length of time, you have heard of autoresponders. You and probably others that you know have your autoresponder loaded with messages that promote different products and services. Find someone else that has an autoresponder and offer to place one of their messages in your autoresponder if they'll place one of yours in their autoresponder.

14. Find someone to co-create an ebook, video or audio product with you. Not only will you both only have to do half the work, but you will both benefit from each other's promotion of the product also.

15. Offer to review someone's product if they'll review yours. You can also both send the review to your own list.

16. Trade product endorsements with others who have product in your market. Kind of like trading testimonials. Just make sure you both truthfully find each others products valuable.

17. Turn your competition into joint venture partners. Find your competition and offer to promote their product (if you find it valuable) if they will promote your product. It takes a certain "touch" to turn your competition into joint venture partners so make sure you present yourself in a very professional way and make sure you make it very worth their while.

18. Create a site that is related to your market that has nothing on it but good quality content about a popular topic in your market. Make sure that you place Google Adsense ads on the site also. You'll then offer ezine publishers and ad on one of the pages of your site if they'll mention your site to their subscribers. Make sure they know they'll benefit by other ezines publishers sending traffic to your site. Their subscribers will be exposed to those ads also. You'll profit from the earnings you earn by people clicking on your Google Adsense ads.

19. Find big sellers on Ebay that sell products related to yours. Ask them if they would auction your product off for a percentage of the sale price. That way you are using an established big seller on Ebay!

20. Offer a website owner or ezine publisher a good commission for their product and then also offer them a 100% commission for a product on the backend.

21. Find 3 profitable topics related to your market. Create a product for each topic. Now find someone else to do the same thing. Both of you can put your products together and sell them as a package. Then just split the profits.

22. If you have a product that you mail to someone when they order, offer to insert a promotional ad for another business into your product package. Just ask them in return to do the same for your business.

Everyone knows that marketing a home business is one of the trickiest things about having one. You have to be sure that you are doing it correctly, because no matter what your business is, chances are good that there are a lot of people who have home businesses that are going to be able to compete with yours. Because the Internet is open to everyone all over the world, you are going to find that it often comes down to people choosing the business that markets themselves the best.

Make Your Mark

So, how can you make your mark on the world and be sure that you are noticed? First of all, you have to have something that no one else does. Chances are good that other people have your same idea, unless you have come up with something that no one has ever heard of before. So, this means that there has to be something about your business that is unique, whether it is in your web site, the way that you do business, or the product that you are offering. You have to be sure that you can easily say that you have something no one else can offer, and that when you say this, you can actually mean it. If you can do this, you are going to be on the right track.

Market, Market, Market

Another thing that you have to be sure to do is to market yourself. No matter what you are doing, there is a place somewhere that is going to be able to market you. You have to rely on yourself and do your own research, and figure out where you can best market yourself. If you are just starting out, a good thing to do would be to search online for your product or service, and see what comes up. See what your competition is, and then figure out what they are doing to market themselves. Then, see where you can get your name out there and how you can make yourself known in the world where you want to be.

Another thing that you have to do is to get creative about how you market yourself. This could even be the thing that sets you apart from all the rest. If you can be sure that you really know what you are doing, you might be able to find your way to the top of something, and you might be able to be more of a success than you ever thought it would be possible for you to be. Get out there and market yourself, in the best way possible, and see if you can bring yourself to the forefront.

If you are suffering from a low amount of sales from your online business and looking for more ways to multiply your sales here are 10 Killer Ways To Make Extra Money Online.

1. When you make your first sale, follow-up with the customer. You could follow-up with a "thank you" email and include an advertisement for other products you sell. You could follow-up every few months.

Make sure you don't overflow them with ads too... you want to keep them hyper-responsive to your promotions.

2. You could upsell to your customers. When they're at your order page, tell them about a few extra related products you have for sale. They could just add it to their original order.

One-time offers are a quick powerful way to increase your online profits. Don't miss out!

3. Tell your customers if they refer four customers to your web site, they will receive a full rebate of their purchase price. This will turn one sale into three sales.

This is a powerful form of viral marketing and once it takes it's effect you can just sit back and watch your profits just roll in by the truckloads.

4. When you sell a product, give your customers the option of joining an affiliate program so they can make commissions selling your product. This will multiply the sale you just made.

You would usually put this information on the thank-you or delivery page to see best results.

5. Sell the reprint/reproduction rights to your products.

You could include an ad on or with the product for other products you sell. You could make sales for the reproduction rights and sales on the back end product.

This is also another great form of viral marketing and branding as well... you don't have to do any of the work they will do it all for you.

6. You could cross promote your product with other businesses' products in a package deal. You can include an ad or flyer for other products you sell and have other businesses selling for you.

One of the most important parts of a home business is certainty that you always have
enough work to keep the income flow steady. Doing that means that before you ever start
your business, you have to begin an advertising campaign so that you have someplace to
begin. Do not quit your job and go in with blinders on your eyes or you will fail and be
right back working for someone else. You should have a constant flow of potential
customers or repeat customers, depending on the kind of business you operate. Some
types of home businesses have guaranteed repeat business, while others are usually just
occasional jobs.

In order to assure that you always have a constant flow of work, make sure that you
always have a database of customers. You do not want to spam anyone but if you
have someone who has contacted you in the past about a project or you have worked with
someone in the past, you can drop them a short email to see if there is anything else they
need you to help them complete. The key is always keeping your contact list up to date
and staying in contact with people you assist. You may get into the habit of offering
bonuses for referrals that ultimately become one of your customers.

Although advertising is an important part of your business, some fields do not require it
simply because of the nature of the work. Transcriptionists, for example, do not require a
large database of customers since most of that work will come through the courts,
doctors, or lawyers, depending on the type of transcription you do. In most cases, these
fields will not require advertising because your credentials alone will keep the clients
coming back again.

Even if your business does not require ongoing advertising, you will need to do some
initial advertising in order to gain the momentum you need to get your business operating
efficiently. You do not have to spend a great deal of money on advertising but you must
keep in mind that sometimes the free internet sites do not afford the same success rate as
those that require a fee. Even if its a small fee, you will have more success than with a
free advertising site.

Other ways of advertising include signature lines in your email, link
exchange programs and making sure that your website is submitted to as many of the
search engines as possible within your budget. Some free submission services are
available but your site will not reach as many search engines as those charging a fee.
Remember the old saying that it takes money to make money, so you have to invest a
little of your own money if you expect to make your business the success that you want it
to be.

There are few topics that will incite more varied opinions than the topic of "arbitrage". Be aware that before you bring up this topic the reactions may range from slick little smiles or a mere nodding of the heads to outright rage and disgust. Everyone out there has an opinion on arbitrage, some like it, some hate it, but no matter what you're opening a can of worms when the topic comes up.

What is search arbitrage ?

Let's say that I build a website about "massage therapy", on that website I'll place ppc advertisements from companies like Google AdSense or Yahoo Publisher Network, or any number of PPC affiliate sites. I know that clicks on those ads that relate to massage therapy will pay me $2.00 per click. Obviously, in order to make money from those ads I'll need traffic for my site. Now I'll find another PPC search engine, one that may not have much competition for the keywords massage therapy. I'll create an ad, and buy traffic from PPC Engine #2, paying a mere .10 cents per click, directing the searcher to my website that contains the ads that pay me a much higher amount. I paid .10 cents to get a user to visit my site and hopefully they will now click on my ads that pay me $2.00 per click, if they do I just made a profit of $1.90.

Simply put, a webmaster will buy search ads at various PPC Search Engines and send the traffic gained there to another website that contains more ads from yet another PPC Search Engine. In a nutshell, the arbitrager earns his money by buying low and selling high. Whle the concept may seem quite simple, the execution is a bit more complicated. The arbitrager must know how much they are being paid per click, compute click through rate on keyword phrases, and use that information in conjunction to what they are paying per click. Bid prices change frequently as well, if the numbers that the arbitrager has figured change, they can quickly lose a great deal of money.

Good or Evil ?

Some think arbitrage is the root of all evil, while others think there's nothing wrong with it. Obviously the arbitrager who is making money with it sees no harm at all in it. Some advertisers feel they're being cheated by this system, some are happy for the additional traffic and sales they gain with arbitrage sites. Some people feel it's not creating a good user experience. If a user is searching for "massage therapy" and they click on a result only to be taken to another site with more ads they now have to make yet another click to find the information they wanted.

Ultimately there is no cut and dry, no black and white when it comes to arbitrage. It's used the world over in many different ways. With some people defending it, and some cursing it, it's sure to remain a very hot topic for debate around the internet for quite some time.

Overture or now known as Yahoo because of Yahoo's takeover, was the original inventor of the use of the P4P or Pay for Performance. Overture saw that the internet was fast becoming the easiest and most convenient way to shop, and advertising was going to hit at an all time high because of the many businesses in the arena.

To get a person to go to a site than others, it needs to be very visible. Providing ads that could direct potential consumers and costumers to their site would allow them to have an increase in traffic as well as sales. Yahoo provides a service that can put a site or company's ad in their sites that can be shown when certain keywords are inputted.

Yahoo offers a chance for any company to increase their traffic by using their services. With more people being aware of your site, there would be more traffic and visitors to your site given the chance to view your pages as well as your products. With even a small percentage of successful sales, with a high traffic volume this could still be a substantial figure for your company.

Getting a consistent substantial flow of website visitors is every company's goal. Many methods are devised and utilized to ensure that there would be more people to boost the sales and to be aware of the existence of such a product or service. Website visitors are potentially the life blood of your internet based business.

Yahoo/Overture utilizes the same principle as Google's Adwords. In fact, they are very similar to each other that they use keyword and keyword phrase searches and to determine which ads to show per search. When a person types in a phrase to search for anything, the search engines gives out the results in a page. Then at the right side of the page, you will see selected ads that have paid for their ads to be viewed with certain keywords and keyword phrases searched.

For example, Let's say you run a car parts retail/wholesale site. You choose keywords that can prompt or trigger your ads to be shown in the page when a keyword is searched. When a search engine user types in Honda Accord, your ad may come up if you have designated that as one of your keywords. You don't need to fully optimize your site with SEO methods and techniques.

While some labor so hard to make their site one of the high ranking sites per keyword search, you get the chance to be on the top of the list or at least in the first page of a search result increasing your chance to be clicked on. With that, you drive traffic and website visitors to your site a lot faster.

You will have to pony up some cash when using this service though. There are different ways Yahoo/Overture will charge you. It may be in the number of keywords or keyword phrases your ad uses or in the many times your ad is clicked on. Others offer many other services like having your ad show up not only in the search engine pages but also with some third party sites.

Third party sites support ads that have the same theme or niche as them. With more areas your ad is shown, you increase the chances of people knowing about your site or product. With more website visitors you increase the sales of your site which makes your investment with your ads a wise one.

With so many competitors in the internet based businesses, it is necessary to take a huge leap forward from the pack by advertising. Pay-per-click will be a great place to start. Many have utilized their services and have reaped the rewards of this decision. It's a marketing strategy that will increase your website visitors as well as increase your sales resulting to profit.

It takes money to make money, while there are some methods that are basically low cost or free, using a marketing service such as what Yahoo/Overture offers will provide results faster and on a larger scale. Many businesses have learned this the hard way, don't be counted with them.

Many people recognize Linux as the best type of web hosting solution around, because of the added advantages of this solutions, which provide reliability, security, functionality, and affordability all in the one package.

Linux Servers Advantages
Linux servers have been known to run for long periods of time without technical difficulties or down time being experienced, which is a considerable achievement since many Microsoft servers need to refresh and reboot their operating systems at regular intervals.

Linux installations have no known vulnerabilities in their security operating system; however, it is still considered a priority of Linux to keep their systems running with the best degree of security around.

Linux also offers its customers the added advantage of cheaper Linux based web hosting solutions. This is largely due to open source distributions; hosts generally pass these savings onto their customers, making Linux solutions extremely affordable.

Disadvantages of Linux Servers
With every advantage of a solution, there has to be disadvantages as well, Linux hosting solutions are no exception to this rule. One of the main disadvantages of Linux based applications is that they are unable to accommodate windows applications and the coding conversions. This can spell disaster for websites that have been coded especially for windows based applications.

When choosing a web hosting provider for Linux, make sure he offers all the basics services on security, including firewall, load balance for the servers, Denial of Attack (DOS) protection.

Also, there are some basics services any service should include, such as MYSQL services, statistics (preferably two scripts), antivirus and antispam services (added or included) and the possibility to add your own scripts via FTP. If provider doesn't include SSH access (this is very common), make sure they can offer you support to install those scripts. Of course, if your script presents a security flaw, your provider may ask you to change it or deny installing it altogether.

Windows web servers
Windows web hosting solutions provide many benefits such as NET support, ASP, visual basic C++ and pearl scripts. Windows are also known for their dynamic page displays. All windows plans, as well as MSSql for more experienced webmasters support the Microsoft Access 2000 database and are generally easy and strait forward to apply codes to.

Be aware that a Microsoft Access database, although simple to use is a limited option, and should not be considered if you are planning your site to grow. However, it is a very good option for small sites with little growth.

Although Windows hosting packages offer a large number of benefits and extras, the fact that they have the odd security problem, are prone to down time, and scheduled rebooting on a regular basis remains a viable disadvantage to using windows servers as an option for your web site.

While the choice of a web hosting provider is an individual decision, those looking for a business solution should consider the benefits and disadvantages of both windows and Linux severs before making a choice.

Viral marketing, also known otherwise as viral advertising, is a technique used to build the public awareness of one's product or company. They use many forms of media to reach out to the public without actually promoting the product by riding on in other forms of addictive means that could get a person hooked and be obliged or amused to actually pass it on, with the product or company advertisement along with it.

In a nutshell, companies ride on the idea that if people like the content of a media they will pass it on to their friends and family. They sponsor the certain media, such as a cool flash game, funny video, amusing story and such, which one may pass on to another with the company brand or logo or the products description or any other content to help promote the company or its product.

Viral marketing has become a popular means of advertising and marketing because they are relatively low cost. To avoid being tagged as spam mail, viral marketing counts on the eagerness of one person to pas on the product. If a person sees the name of the person they know as the sender, they won't block it and open it as well.

Many companies offer incentives such as discounts and rebates when they help in spreading their viral marketing. They rely on the number of recipients a viral marketing gets from one person in determining the amount or number of incentive they can be attributed with.

You get to generate a flow of traffic that are potential customers. Along with other schemes and methods in promoting your site, like Search Engine Optimization and such, viral marketing could easily push you ahead in the rating games.

Viral Marketing could be a sneaky way to get people to know about you and your company. You get them to pass your advertisement along. They are also very low cost that not investing in it could be downright a business suicide. All it takes is a great idea, a good addicting game, a funny story many ideas are still out there. Create a gossip or a buzz, many movies are promoted by using scandals and gossips to make them more popular. Remember the movie "The Blair Witch Project"??

Many big companies have tried viral marketing and have had many success stories with it. A classic example is Microsoft's Hotmail. They were the first known big company to utilize the scheme online and it has worked wonders for them.

Now it's your turn to use viral techniques to work wonders for you. Act now and reap the benefits Viral Marketing will provide for you and your sales figures.

More and more webmasters have the recurring dilemma on how to increase the flow of traffic in the websites. During the past few years many methods that been developed to solve this predicament. While most of them would work there are those that would not make even a small impact.

One of the methods that have spawned many success stories in driving traffic into websites is viral marketing. Viral marketing makes use of the tendency of a person to share something to find informative, entertaining or amazing.

Many companies bank on this behavior to spread their products and increase the popularity of their company or their website. Viral marketing makes use of many mediums in enticing this behavior. It might be in the form of an interesting story, an addicting flash game, an amusing video and many others that may catch a person's fancy.

This ingenious form of marketing is typically low cost and is a wonderful tool for any company to utilize. The benefit greatly overshadows the cost or efforts to initialize this marketing scheme. Any website would greatly benefit with viral marketing.

Tell A Friend Script

One of the easiest methods in viral marketing is using a tell a friend script. This is a simple programming script that you can attach to your website. Generally, tell a friend scripts are installed in pages where a media is placed so that a person can easily send the media to any of his friends or his family members.

The basic concept of a tell a friend script is a script wherein a person may input his name, e-mail address, the recipient's e-mail address and send the media to the intended recipient much like an e-mail with an attachment. As the recipient receives the e-mail he wouldn't think of the mail a spam mail because he would see the sender's name as someone he or she knows and trust.

Tell a friend scripts greatly eliminate the chances of being blocked because they use the information inputted by the sender. This allows for wider spreading of this marketing method. It can be quite sneaky but it is very effective.

With the e-mail sent and opened the sent media will either be read, viewed or played. Also along with the mail would be a brief description of the company or site that sponsors the media sent. This allows for the introduction of either the site, company name or its products. The along with it is another tell a friend script.

Then the process begins again. As more people use the tell a friend script, more and more people will know of the existence of the sponsoring company or site. People who read the ads inside the mail who liked what they see would go and click on the link and visit the site. This drives traffic into the site resulting to great number of potential customers.

Script Availability

A tell a friend script is very simple and does not require a complicated method of programming. In fact, you can copy paste a script and simply put it on an intended page. Finding one is even simpler. All you have to do is go to a search engine and type in the search box "tell a friend script" then press enter or click go.

In the search results page you will see many links that will direct you to a site where you can get a tell a friend script. It would just be a simple matter of looking and searching for the script and copying it to your intended web page.

With a tell a friend script viral marketing strategy you can drive traffic into your site which could potentially spell profits. This is a simple harmless script that offers great benefits for low cost paired with great creativity and foresight.

It is imperative that you have patience in using a scrip like this. If your chosen media doesn't get the mileage that is expected of it, it may take some time before it gets spread or shared. But surely many people will see your ads and there is great probability that they will visit your site increasing your traffic flow.

Anyone who starts a home-based business has high hopes for success. Many feel that with just a few simple ads the business will boom and take off into a major business. However, many find that customers are actually few and far between when it comes to a home based business. With the following tips you can help to market your home based business and turn it into a success.

While family and friends can be helpful when it comes to a home-based business you should also look to expand your network. To do this considers the places where you can find good customer. Some ideas include local civic associations, regional trade shows, professional conferences and chamber of commerce meetings. If you have an online business then you may want to consider checking message boards to help build your online mailing list.

Whenever you find someone and the situation calls for it, talk to them. Everyone has the potential of being a customer if you just talk to him or her. The possibilities are endless and it gives you something to do instead of just waiting around for a bus or airplane. Just striking up a conversation can bring you in a lot of additional business.

Even if you don't have an online business, one of the best advertising methods is online. Whether you are selling a local product or not, online is a way to get in contact with millions of potential customers from the comfort and convenience of your home computer.

When discussing you business it may be a good idea to leave out the fact that you have a home-based business. Although a great many companies are starting up home based aspects of their companies many people still view these businesses as unprofessional. Rather focus on the product or service you are selling since this is what is important and this is what the customer wants.

Depending on the service you are offering consider doing a few local demonstrations. This can help increase the publicity for your business. Or you can offer to do a local service featuring your talents for free such as decorating a local restaurant. This way you can increase your popularity and possibly gain further sales later.

For the top marketing techniques consider attending meetings that focus on your business industry and talking with people about their successes and problems. A good business card means a well structured marketing plan, not only it has to pass the trash test but it also has to say a lot of things about the person and the company it represents.

When you choose a business card you must have in mind the fact that it must say something about the company or contain something that defines it. So in order to impress your clients you must carefully choose your business card; of course not everything suits for example you can't have a pink business card with little ponies and work for a well respected company but on the other hand you can't have a black business card and have a company that organizes kids parties.

Let's talk a little about the size of your business card: in the US the common size is 3.4 x2 in (89 x 51 mm) but for example in other countries the common size is 85x 55 mm (3.346 x 2.165). If your card will travel distant lands or your company is international I recommend using the international standard size which is 85.60 x 53.98 mm (3.370 x 2.125 in) to eliminate any further problems about the size of your card.

You can choose to print a picture of your face or a drawing to help people remember you better but this is not recommended in all situations because many of these cards may be considered kitsch by a lot of people.

Another catchy thing that can be added to your business card to improve its originality is maybe an unusual shape or fold. This is usually very appealing to many people and will help you get noticed. Although these cards are more expensive than average cards they sure worth all the money especially if you care about your business and how it's represented.

Of course when it comes to originality people can make business cards out of chocolate or marzipan but nowadays the elegant and trendy type of card is the simple two colors card. You can also try to have a card with another purpose, for example if you are a doctor you can place your schedule on the back of the card and so on.

Remember when ordering your business card that you will need to choose something that matches your style and the company style; also, don't mess with the size, choose the standard size no matter how unusual your tastes are.

In this article you are going to learn the first step in the process of creating loads of profits from advertising your website in newspapers.

What is this first step you might ask?
An effective, curiosity provoking advertisement that gets people reading the paper to take action and visit your website.

To clarify, we are going to be using short, concise classified advertisements to generate leads. Yes, you will learn about using space advertising and longer ads in a later section but this is where you need to start.

Don't worry, this isn't something that requires you learn a bunch of copywriting tactics or complicated writing tricks. You just need to put yourself in the place of your prospect.

Let's jump into this with an example.
Let's say that you sell a book on how to have more fun boating while spending less money and you want to use the newspaper to get more people to your website.

You want to give a short and enticing headline that peaks enough interest to get people to your website, nothing more.

Instead of giving you a long-winded explanation or course on copywriting, I'll give you a handful of examples you can steal and model to fit your product or service.

Example #1
Learn Why I Have A Blast Boating Every Weekend And You Don't! Free Newsletter.
Yoursite.com

Example #2
Secrets Ways To Boat More, Have More Fun & Spend Less Money. Free Report.
Yoursite.com

Example #3
Do You Enjoy Boating? Learn How To Do It More Often & Have A Blast Doing It At This Free Website
Yoursite.com

Okay, let's use something a little more relevant to a home-service business.

Let's say you want to advertise your maid service in the newspaper. The ad is small, so you really want to pull readers to the web for more information.

Use phrases like this:

Example #1
Find out 5 extra services we give FREE that no other other maid service offers.
Yoursite.com

Example #2
Does your maid have a criminal background? Learn how we thoroughly screen all employees BEFORE they're hired.
Yoursite.com

Example #3
You'll have the cleanest home in your neighborhood. Find out about our 72 point checklist.
Yoursite.com

These taglines should always be put toward the bottom of a larger display ad. But, they can also be used as the sole copy in a small ad.

As you can see from the examples above, it doesn't need to be some long winded advertisement. Just something short, simple and crafted to generate some curiosity is all you need.

If you're looking to grow your business, then a BLOG is a great tool to add to your tool chest. In this article we will discuss BLOG basics and how you can use them in your business.

1. What's a BLOG?

What's a BLOG you ask? Well, let me tell you. According to Wikipedia.com:

A blog (short for web log) is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order [newest entries are at the top].

So, its really just an online journal or diary that is written by anyone who wants to tell the world what's on their mind. (Side note: When I say "the world" I really mean it, so be careful what you write.)

Ok, so how can this help you grow your business? Great question. To understand the answer you have to know just a bit about how search engines work.

2. BLOGs and Search Engines

Search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN and all the others use what they call "spiders." Spiders are software programs that "crawl" the internet looking for new content, and rank it based on its contents and its relevance to a certain topic. This is all done by some very complex math, but the important thing you need to know is that if you write often and/or discuss topics that are getting searched online a lot (i.e. topics in the news), the search engines will consider your site "relevant" and if you include "key words" (popular search terms) in your content, that you know your potential customers are searching for, there is a much better chance that they will actually be able to find you.

So to recap, my 3 Principles of BLOGging for Search Engines are:

1)Write Often
2)Write Relevant
3)Write Using Key Words

3. What makes a good BLOG?

This is a rhetorical question. The only thing that really matters is the opinion of the audience you are trying to reach. So here are a few tips that will help you stay on track.

1. Know who you are writing for
a. If your audience is 13 year olds, writing about retiring next year probably isn't going to get you a lot of return visitors

2. Keep it short and to the point
a. 100-300 words is all most people will have the time to read, so keep your articles short and to the point. Over time this will build a great deal of credibility with your readers.

3. Write actionable content
a. "How To" and "Top 10" lists are great. It gives your readers action steps they can take to use your content in their everyday lives. Think about ways to use these to point out how you are different from your competitors.

4. Don't be afraid to tell some of your secrets.
a. People love to hear about how to make something happen, then they love to pay someone else to do it. Let's be honest, even though you just told me how I can edit my html code on my website to make it stick out like neon lights in a search engine, that doesn't mean I want to do it myself. Just give me a way to contact you to hire you. After all, you just showed me that you are the expert.

5. Allow Comments
a. Consider allowing people to post comments about your BLOG. In fact, you should be the first one to post a comment after each blog, pose a question or comment to simply getting a discussion started. If visitors are interacting and writing comments about your BLOG, they are actually adding relevant content that the search engines are going to like.

Well, there you have it, BLOG basics.

Search engine optimization or SEO is the hottest way to drive targeted traffic to your website. Maximizing the benefits of a well optimized website will yield lots of earnings for the marketer. However, optimizing your site might cost you thousands of dollars if you are not skilled in this area.

But to tell you the truth, you can essentially get information on low cost SEO anywhere in the Internet. But only several really show you how to work out an affordable search engine optimization endeavor. And those few that really inform include this article.

1. Link exchanges

One cheap SEO method that can get you best results is through link exchanges or linking to and from other web sites. Depending on the websites that you would like to exchange links with, this tool could even cost you nothing at all. Contact the author or owner of the web site you want to have a link exchange with. You will be surprised with the eventual spiking up of your page ranking using this means of getting your website optimized.

2. Write or acquire key word rich articles

Writing truly informative and keyword-rich articles is one surefire way to make your Internet business more visible than ever. It's either you write your own articles or you get them from article directories that allow you to post these articles on your website as long as you keep the resource box or the author's byline in tact. Just don't stuff your articles with keywords that even idiots would get bore of reading them. The readability and freshness of your articles will still be the basis of whether your writers will keep on coming back to your website or not.

3. Catchy Domain Name

What better will make your target visitors remember your website but with a very easy-to-recall domain name. Something sweet and short will prove to be very invaluable. Registering your domain name is not for free. But creativity is.

4. Organize your site navigation

Providing easy steps in navigating your site is one way to make your visitors become at ease with your site. This, in turn, will improve the flow of traffic to your website.

Low cost SEO is always evolving like any other approach in information technology. There are many methods that can very well land you on the top ten rankings of Google or on any other search engines. Some may cost a lot but there are methods that can give you the same results at a low price or you can even do on your own such as those mentioned above.

If your business involves selling a service, such as consultancy, you might find blatant advertising is counter-productive - no-one really wants to hire a professional who is so obviously hungry for work. But you can't just sit back, waiting for business to come to you; it simply doesn't work like that. So you'll be pleased to know about several ways for you to market your business, or service, which are not only effective but, best of all, almost free of charge.

1 Networking

Networking is essentially about building a client list, including people who might want to use your services and those who are in a position to recommend you to others.

Networking means making and using contacts from all areas of your life: colleagues and workmates, neighbours, family and friends, past clients, people in a similar business to yours, former or current employers, fellow members of business and professional groups and social acquaintances.

The whole things is about keeping yourself in the public eye - unobtrusively. Ways to do this include:

* Telephone just to say 'hello' whenever possible, but not too often - you might arouse suspicion

* Find out when their birthdays are. Send a card, or invite them out for a drink

2 Get Listed in Directories and Similar Publications

This includes being listed in professional directories as well as trade and business directories and yearbooks. It also means having your details included in telephone and other advertising publications, including 'Yellow Pages' and other popular advertising directories.

3 Attend Meetings

Attend as many meetings as possible where referral sources, and actual or potential clients are likely to be. Suitable gatherings might include association meetings, professional seminars, trade meetings, and so on.

Always make a point of being seen but and not by monopolising the proceedings. If you are an expert on some topic currently being discussed, make this known by contributing a few main points or by putting forward your own views on the subject.

4 Making Speeches and Presentations

Offering your services as a speaker or to present awards increases your visibility and establishes you as an authority. Appropriate contacts include trade and professional associations, civic groups, business clubs, large companies, and other high profile organisations.

5 Letters to the Editor

When your letters and most importantly, your name, are published in appropriate places, you increase your visibility and establish yourself as an authority on your chosen subject. Potential clients and referral sources will notice that your ideas and views are of sufficient value to be communicated by editors. The more often your name appears, the more credibility you'll achieve.

Letters to the editor are the easiest place to start your writing 'career'. The best letters - namely those most likely to be printed - are generally topical and relevant, and almost always controversial.

Letters should be short and to the point. If you intend to be a regular contributor, make a point of studying the style of published letters, including length, style, viewpoint, whether letters are captioned, and so on. Model your own on these.

Key Points:

* Send letters to editors of trade and professional publications as well as national and regional newspapers and magazines

* Always use your professional letterheading with your qualifications and specialty included

6 Donating Your Services

Consider donating some time to a non-profitmaking organisation as a gesture of goodwill. Make sure the commitment don't impinge too heavily on your normal, income-earning hours.

Most importantly, make sure the organisation is worthwhile and promotes you in a good light.

7 Radio and Television Exposure

Here you might look for regular slots having something in common with your specialty. Alternatively, think about something on which you have expert knowledge, not necessarily related to your profession, which might be of interest to viewers or listeners.

Locate the appropriate contact person and explain what you have to offer. This might be particularly beneficial if your contribution is broadcast just before something special you are organising, in which case you should emphasise that the interviewer gives out information during or after the broadcast.

8 Referrals

Another excellent source of business is recommendation from past satisfied clients or anyone else in a position of power or authority. This type of recommendation is achieved through the image and professionalism you display. It means being reliable, enthusiastic, doing your best for the client, and seeing to it that everything the client wants, the client gets!

9 Announcement Columns

Announcement columns are sections in newspapers, magazines and other publications, usually set aside for information about members and readers. Make a point of sending details about any awards you receive or any seminars and workshops you organise. Keep the editor updated on your range of services and point out any additions or expansions.

Remember to give yourself enough lead time if your announcement relates to a specific time or period.

10 Press Releases

A press release, as the name implies, means 'releasing' information to the press in the hope that it will be published. It could be about a book you have written or a newsletter you have published. It might be about a new business or expansion to an existing business.

Press releases can be sent to all kinds of publication, including trade and business journals, national and regional newspapers, professional journals, the business and financial press, and so on.

Key Points:

* A press release should never be longer than two or three pages of double-spaced typing, preferably much shorter

* Start with a compelling headline and introduction and include a photograph where possible. Your headline and opening paragraph are the most important features of the press release and will almost certainly make or break your chances of having it published

* Always include a contact name, address and telephone number.

* Unless the publication indicates to the contrary, send your press release to the editor. Address the person by name where possible. The name can usually be found in writers' books and directories available in most main reference libraries.

Alternatively, the editor's name is usually included in the newspaper or magazine itself. If not, or if it's hard to spot, telephone the publication's switchboard for the information you require.

Advertising had long since been a major determinant of a business' success. This would include the presentation of the product / service to the consumers. What really matters is how it is presented to the target market to be able to capture it.

Whatever the package, the ad media also plays a great role in determining the success of the product or service awareness.

What may be its advantages over other proven medium like the best-selling TV ads?

Advantages

1. Low Cost

Eventhough the Internet ad might be viewed as "classy" or far-reaching, as compared to other medium, this is far cheaper than most. Internet Ad Packages are offered for as low as $29.99 for a one-month run-time period.

2. Capture market

Should your product / service aim to cater to the younger generation or the corporate-oriented ones, Internet ad would be best since they would always be "hooked-up" into the net surfing sites that might have a link to your very own. Result, a great number of "hits" on your site!

2. Hassle free

All you would ever really need is a PC (and some knowledge and bright ideas in forming your site) wherein you could open your site, search for the best Internet Ad package, and check / update the status of your ad. You may actually never have to leave your home to advertise!

3. Updated ads

Unlike the TV ads that need to be updated on a regular basis, Internet ads may run for quite some time without the need for change. If so, change in the site is very minimal and may be done easily at home.

Disadvantages

1. Scope
Limited market may be captured if one would solely use the Internet Ad for advertising. Although most people now are into the use of technology, i.e. surfing the Internet, still, majority of the average consumers still relies on the old form of advertising as a means of gathering information about certain products / service.

2. Additional cost

If one would enlist the help of another professional or establishment to produce the site for their product or service, this would entail additional costs on the part of the entrepreneur.

Given the stated list of advantages and disadvantages about low-coast Internet Ad, an entrepreneur may now weigh in its applicability to his / her product or service.

The aim of Internet ad is to offer the widest range or "Maximum Exposure" of the brand at the least possible cost. Now, does that not sound good or what?

"You can have the most wonderful product in the world, but if people don't know about it, it's not going to be worth much. There are singers in the world with voices as good as Frank Sinatra's, but they're singing in their garages because no one has ever heard of them. You need to generate interest, and you need to create excitement."
Donald Trump, American real-estate tycoon

Advertising doesn't cost, it pays! And good advertising can pay you well. Bad advertising, or no advertising at all, invites disaster.

You have to advertise if people are to be made aware of your business and the benefits it offers them. Without advertising you rely on word of mouth recommendation or press editorial, both extremely effective, but slow and generally unpredictable.

Advertising takes many different forms, from painting your name on the side of a van to delivering leaflets door-to-door or posting printed cards in shop and post office windows. More often the term applies to classified and display promotions in appropriate media, usually newspapers and magazines, and it is with this definition we concern ourselves here.

Advertising by itself does not sell. It will not sell a bad product (customers will ask for refunds) and it won't open up new markets. It is not a miracle cure that can generate sales for a dying product. Conversely, advertising will not sell your must successful products to people who simply don't want them.

Main Points About Effective Advertising

* It reduces the entire population to your target audience and reaches as many of those people as possible at least available cost.

* It must always have an objective. This means having a clear idea about what you want to accomplish in your advertisement. Reasons for advertising include:

* To invite orders or enquiries

* To launch new products

* To publicise price changes.

* The message must attract your target audience, it must interest them, create a desire for your product and prompt people to act (order or ask for further information). This acronym AIDA is one you will encounter many times in advertising.

* It must be truthful and straightforward. The nearer your advertisement is to reality, the more effective it is.

* Sufficient resources must be allocated to accomplish your advertising objectives.

* Testing is crucial to effective advertising, allowing good promotions to be repeated and bad ones to be eliminated.

* Every aspect of your advertisement must be prepared from the customer's point of view. That person wants to know how you and your product can benefit him. The most important feature of any advertisement is the benefits it contains.

* It must be placed in the appropriate media.

Newcomers to business tend to confuse the real benefits of advertising, frequently considering it a necessary, and expensive, evil, not the long-term investment it really is. In short, effective advertising is the lifeblood of your business. Without it you will surely fail!

Deciding When and How

Advertising can be a major headache for many firms, not just new businesses or those without specialist advertising departments.

But it isn't always costs that are to blame as much as making that vital choice between classified or generally more costly display advertising.

Returning to basics, all advertisements must follow the general AIDA principle. They must attract attention, generate and retain interest, create desire, and stimulate action.

But what will best achieve this objective: classified or display?

The answer depends on a number of things, not least of all an understanding of what these two methods involve, how they differ and what similarities, even overlap, might exist.

Classified advertising, sometimes called 'lineage', generally employs just words, without embellishment, other than perhaps a few words emboldened, and sometimes impact lines or boxes around the advertisement. Where these minor forms of decoration are included, the format is frequently referred to as 'semi-display'.

Display advertisements, on the other hand, are designed to stand out from the crowd, using a variety of techniques including: occupying a set position on the page, taking up a specified amount of space, including graphics and illustrations, adopting a variety of fonts, and so on. The argument is that display advertisements are more noticeable, more profitable than their counterparts buried amongst countless others in the classified columns. Hence the far higher cost of display advertising.

The following main points will help you decide:

* Classified ads are usually cheap and are excellent for generating enquiries. Many successful classified advertisers use the two-stage enquiry method, allowing the customer to obtain further information before placing an order. A major benefit for dealers is the chance to build a useful mailing list for future offers.

* Display advertising is best for selling straight from the page. Readers are more likely to trust their money to someone who has paid for a larger advertisement than someone whose advertisement occupies a tiny space among so many competing entries. Classified advertising is rarely effective for selling off-the-page except for very low cost items, commonly £10 or less.

* Classified advertising can be used to test interest in your product before venturing into more costly display advertising.

* Classifieds can be used to test and compare advertising sources.

* Classified advertising is generally unsuitable for anything that requires a lot of 'telling' to accomplish the task of selling. Too much grey matters in classifieds is boring and readers can easily lose interest halfway. If it can't be said in a few words, try display advertising.

* For classified advertisements, the words themselves must do the job of selling. Sometimes a maximum wordcount is set and every word must pay its way. Conversely, display advertising allows a variety of other techniques to be used to attract and retain reader interest. Based on what they say about a picture being worth ten thousand words, it follows that, if the design, style or appearance of your product is important to the potential customer, display advertising is usually best. If the product markets well 'sight unseen', classified ads might be appropriate.

* Classified ads usually focus on a single offer. Display advertisements can include several products, or an invitation to send for further information, obtain a catalogue, send for samples, and so on.

In order to see things from different perspectives, I have been known to 'experiment' at times.

When I was 19, I wanted to see how handicapped people were really treated. I went to Manhattan with a girlfriend and 'posed' as a blind person for a day. It was an extremely enlightening experience. Only a 'non-New Yorker' will stereotype a typical New Yorker as being heartless for that day proved to me why I am proud to be a New Yorker. I had strangers help me on all counts with not one person taking advantage of me. By the end of the day, my belief in mankind was reignited.

In the '80s, I was an Art Director within the music industry but misplaced; my music of choice is either show-tunes or swing, however my placement was within the heavy metal division. To drown out the, pardon me, c#*p, I constantly was hooked into my Walkman (does anyone remember those? ... really???) playing MY music therefore unaffected by the glorious talent of such, well... The Sex Pistols for one.

Getting the 'experiment itch' once again, I wanted to know exactly how this music affected it's listeners so, for one week, I put away my Walkman and purposely listened to every heavy metal CD delivered to my office. Oh, there were doozies and I was yearning to belt out some Evita tunes, but, instead, decided to be patient with my little experiment.

By weeks end, I felt blue, negative, moody and was convinced that this music absolutely does affect our youth. Bang, bang, you're dead. Crazy? Look at our youth today. Believe me, after that week, my office belted out Frank, Judy, Sammy and of course, 'One Singular Sensation' so loud because ... that's who I am and artists take liberties in being who they are whenever they can ... ahum.

Well, age has not mellowed me and two weeks ago it was once again: 'experiment time'. This experiment involved me placing myself in my clients place. I am presently building a separate business, which basically needs a few things done before it can be officially launched. Taking myself out of the designer and ad agency role, I began to search for freelance web and graphic designers to finalize my project. I am pleased to say that I took my own advice: I did interview each person before I hired and was truly blown away. I must say that their websites were outstanding -- actually far superior to mine; but I have never really relied on my website to get clients in the first place.

My first encounter was with the graphic designer -- far more poised than I was my first observation. (Although I have already created my own branding for this business) I stated to her that I didn't have a clue about what to do first and really needed her help. Without asking me a thing about either my business or trying to get to know what kind of person I am, she confidentially told me that she would have roughs to me within one week. I departed a little nervous because she was extremely expensive and I didn't want the clock turned on for naught but I had to remind myself that this was just an 'experiment'.

My next order of business (I was told) was to contact the webmaster, who also was a bit pricey and he would start laying out the skeleton of my site. Now, I thought to myself, how on earth can he put up a website before I was branded? Since the webmaster and the graphic designer had no connection, I was clearly confused but.... Well, 'they knew best', I tried to tell myself as I was silently calculating prices in my head. His timeline for a rough was a little bit longer and he adamantly stated that he only communicates through e-mail. Well, that's a problem, because I do not prefer to communicate solely by e-mail, but, again, I was trying to be a 'good client'.

Now bear in mind, I had already branded myself and produced products over one year ago. The process took a great deal of research and planning as I seriously took into consideration the demographics this business would be reaching. Not one vendor, however, was interested in the details.

To quote Ricky Ricardo, 'The time had come". Sure enough I got to see all comps within the timeframe promised. Ok, I thought, maybe I was wrong because they are honoring deadlines here. I worked myself up to get extremely excited which my husband always tells me is my problem: if I would just learn to enter situations having no expectations I will not be disappointed, but do I learn? Never.

Poised, graphic designer: logo and branding comps lifeless, typeface boring and had I chosen any of her comps, my business would surely be forgotten within five minutes. No appeal and obviously, no research. This design team gave me what THEY WANTED not what was in the best interest of their client (me). When I tried to explain that none of the comps reflected anything of what I envisioned, there was no discussion of going back to the drawing board. Three comps were what were put in the contract and I had to choose either comp 1, 2 or 3. (Even if I hate them? And at THOSE PRICES???)

As a designer I can affirm that rough comps are just that: rough and are open for discussion and re-rendering and re-working if necessary. Type is chosen for personality, not from a standard list and color-- don't even get me started on color but at this juncture, I was simply the 'client' who clearly did not know best.

Webmaster was no better. His research provided me with a template design. How do I know that? Because this is my business but I was not at liberty to tell him through my experiment. The roughs he provided me were nothing that I could ever use and worse, he was fighting me that I didn't know what I was talking about. Obviously, there was no relationship thing growing here. On and on he went tooting his horn about his clients, his success and all the praise he has received over the years. (yawn) Hadn't anyone ever told him that work done 15 minutes ago is already history? The bigger question is what are you doing today?

Once he remarked on his strong marketing background, I could no longer contain myself. I then asked him why he never once had taken the time to discuss what type of business this is to be as well as who the audience is?

Long story short, they were fired, of course but I sympathized deeply with all the trusting people who rely on professionals to help their business. Vendors such as what I quickly described is what gives my business a bad name. These were not professionals, these were egomaniacs who nickel and dime clients because they know that they can get away with it. Let it be known, as well, that neither companies were paid a dime.

Word of caution: never trust a website to describe a firm's ability. Anyone can put up a quick storefront and portray their business as the 'best'. Ask for references and take your time before hiring anyone. Scrutinize any contracts and insist that you receive all original artwork that was produced for your project. If a designer/artist retains all rights, move on and find someone else.

Once a vendor is hired, insist on becoming part of the process. Expect to input your opinions and insist on learning. And, yes, if someone does not work well with you fire them immediately because they are not who will bring your dream to the next level. Relationships are the key to all partnerships and if it ain't working from the start, it never will.

The best to each of you and may your journey be enlightening, encouraging and educational!

Your advertising plan should be a vital part of your marketing plan. You have an excellent service or a useful product and you need to let people know what you have to offer! People learn about your business through advertising. Because successful advertising is creative and innovative, the creative person has a distinct advantage in developing an effective strategy.

Advertising can be expensive, so you must be specific in identifying the objectives of your plan. Each home-based business is unique, but the fundamental objectives for advertising should include creating a public awareness of your business, reaching new customers, increasing sales and profits and being cost effective.

The first step is to define potential customers in the geographic area served by your business. Do some preliminary surveys and some interviews to determine which means of advertising will reach them. What newspapers do they read? Which radio stations do they listen to? Do they use discount coupons? Do they respond to direct mail? Tailor your advertising efforts to your market.

When you know which audience you want to reach and where you want the information to appear, you must look at the various methods of advertising available to you. Advertising methods differ according to medium, complexity, target audience and cost. Some forms of advertising are more effective for a home-based business than others.

1. Newspaper advertising can be effective for a small business. A relatively large number of people can be reached through a classified ad. Display ads are more costly and should be placed in the newspaper section read by your market. The cost of your ad will vary according to the circulation areas and the frequency of publication.

2. Direct mail while initially expensive can be economical in the long run because it delivers specific information in a personal way to large numbers of people. If you operate a mail-order business, direct mail advertising is especially appropriate because you can target your advertising. Direct mail can be used to distribute letters, promotional give-aways, discount coupons and brochures.

3. Brochures can be expensive but they are essential for any business for which the prospective customer needs detailed information about the qualifications and expertise of the owner and the services and products offered. More information can be supplied in a brochure than would be practical for a classified ad. Brochures can be mailed, distributed door to door or given out at community events and trade shows.

4. Yellow Page directories should not be overlooked as a means of advertising. Every person with a telephone has a copy of their local phone book with business Yellow Pages. Directories are one of the most widely used forms of advertising. The telephone company advertising staff will give you help in designing an ad that will present your business in an effective manner. Be aware that directories are published at various times of the year. Call the phone company to determine the publication deadlines. A home-based business may wish to omit the address from the ad. Phone calls can be screened and clients can be scheduled so the neighborhood is not disrupted by an increased flow of traffic.

5. Business cards are another inexpensive way to inform the public about your business. They are easy to distribute at meetings, upon the completion of a job or during networking. Think of your business card as a "mini-billboard." It should contain the name of your business, the name of a contact person, the complete address, the complete phone number and an appropriate slogan or description of the business.

6. Promotional gimmicks are inexpensive give-aways that attract attention. For example, pens inscribed with your logo, balloons with your business name or t-shirts can be used to promote your product or service.

Any marketing campaign requires being resourceful no matter what you are selling. What better way to utilize all the resources made available to you as a network marketer than with the use of E-books. Many have found this to be a really useful source for building an online business.

Below are four good reasons why this is true today and will continue to be true for the foreseeable future. E-books are cheap to produce and do not take long to set up. If you have articles that you have already written about any subject you are promoting, you can simply combine these articles into an E-book. If, on the other hand, writing is not your forte, you can use rebrandable E-books that have been produced by others. Just use your favorite search engine and do a web search for rebrandable E-books. You will get a lot of hits and have many to choose from. One way to distribute these E-books to visitors to your website is to give them away as a free gift for subscribing to your newsletter, ezine or mailing list. If your E-book contains material that people will want to share with their friends and family, they will pass it along to them, who in turn will pass it along to others, and so forth. You will make money.

E-books are capable of reaching a large audience. The only limiting factor is the enthusiasm or the participants. Therefore, it is absolutely vital that your E-book contain something that people will want to share like timely or educational information or humor. Remember that people like to know something that the rest of the world needs to know. They will pass along something that makes them look like they are in the know.

E-books are also a way to sell other products other than the one you originally targeted. For example; if you are selling garden products, your customers could also be interesting in E-books about lawns, trees landscaping, etc.

E-books are effective in building your reputation. It is an implied recommendation if you give a quality E-book and users willing pass on to others.

Remember, when you are in the process of setting up that all important marketing campaign, you may want to consider the use of viral E-books, especially FREE ones to help you achieve your goal.

As the owner of a small website, I know how easy it is to get lost in the mix. Sometimes you just want to throw your hands in the air and say, "I give up! Pass me a margarita."

But before you go reaching for the tequila and salt, let me tell you something. It's not as hard as you think to get links, get noticed and start actually "doing business" with your online business. That's the idea after all, right?

Here's how I approach the problem: I write two or three short 500-800 word articles a week about my business, and then I submit them using an online submission service. The service is budget-friendly, super-easy to use and extremely effective. After just two days, I looked for my article and it was posted on more than 50 websites.

That means each of those sites contains a link back to my site, and more inbound links means -- you guessed it -- better search engine results positioning. Before I knew it, I was getting more than 200 hits a day on my site. "Unbelievable!" I thought, but it was true.

Here's the idea. You write a few short articles each week -- or as many as you can churn out, the more the merrier -- and submit them either using a service or software you've purchased that serves this purpose. (Psst! Guess what? A service is a thousand times easier.)

You can select a category for your article, such as Business, Fashion, Marketing, etc. and then select subcategories that will pin your article to even more specific needs if you like. The benefit to categorizing your article is that it will show up in front of people who are looking for your product, service or website. If you write about Children's Fashions and you turn up in a newsletter about lawn care, people aren't going to read your article or click on your link.

The way you choose to submit your articles is also important. Software is an option, but I don't like it because it is quickly (some would argue immediately) outdated, clunky and hard to use. First you have to install it, then you have to figure out how each aspect of the program works, then you have to write your articles -- the fact is, most people aren't going to bother once they've got the thing installed.

The thing I love about online submission services is that they do the heavy-lifting for you. All you have to do is write your articles and submit them, and they do the rest. Different services have different features, of course, and you should do the research to see which one is right for your needs.

iSnare is one service that offers "distribution credits" to its authors. Submission is free, but in order to have your article distributed, you must purchase these credits. It's $10 for five credits, $18 for 12, $38 for 28 and so on. They distribute articles to more than 150 article email lists and over 40,000 publishers, plus hundreds of article sites. They have good reviews from satisfied customers on their website.

ThePhantomWriters is another option. Be sure to include "the" in the title, because there is another website called PhantomWriters that offers writing services, not article distribution. ThePhantomWriters service operates on a sliding scale. It costs $35 to submit one article, and then the next three are $27.50 each, on down to $20 apiece for 10 articles. This is a little steep for my budget, so I moved on pretty quickly from Phantom.

The service I prefer is Article Marketer. They are very professional and courteous, and they tell me when I have something to fix about an article before it can be distributed. At $79.99 for three months or $239.99 for an annual subscription, I can afford to write as many or as few articles as I want. I get unlimited submissions with my subscription price.

My true love is music, but the fact is I have to make real money too. There's nothing better than getting together with old friends (older and older, as it turns out) and jamming in front of a crowd. There's an energy you just don't get anywhere else, and it is definitely keeping us young.

Still, music doesn't pay the electric bill, and I'm pretty sure my wife would leave me if I went on the road full time. She's very supportive, but a guy can only go so far before he hits the end of the leash, you dig? So she puts up with my creaky old rocker ways, but she really loves that I've been able to build a business from home that keeps us warm, fed and comfortable. I've even managed to put away a little bit for our retirement!

What I sell online isn't all that important. I have a website offering a variety of products, and I have affiliate partners that share links with me in mutually beneficial relationships. The most important change I ever made for my business, and the one that allowed me to work from home full-time, was marketing.

I had always cringed when I heard the word "marketing" in the past. Isn't that the purview of big, evil PR firms designed to brainwash your kids into screaming "I'm koo-koo for Cocoa Puffs" at full volume in the grocery store? But reading a little more about it and talking to other people in my line of work, I found out that you can be your own marketing department. There is absolutely no need to hire outside your business to start a marketing campaign.

The way I built my business was by writing articles. Once I discovered how easy it is with an online service to be distributed to hundreds -- even thousands -- of content sites, email lists and newsletters around the world, I suddenly became a prolific producer! I wrote constantly for weeks about vitamins I was selling, a new bicycle I bought and all the features it had, even about my band's latest gig! Admittedly, I got a little overzealous. It doesn't take that much effort to run a successful article marketing campaign.

Here are some important points to keep in mind when writing your articles:

-- Be informative. Tell people something they didn't know before.

-- Content is king. The Internet is based on fresh, new content that changes every day. Put yourself into the mix, or your competitor will beat you to it.

-- Leave out keyword-stuffing and Black Hat SEO. Search engines are too smart for that nowadays and your article will be passed over every time.

-- Have fun! Write about what you know and love and it will quickly cease being a chore and become one of your favorite parts of your week!

The secret is, in every article you write, there's a little About the Author box that goes at the end. In this box, you can tell a little bit about yourself, like the name and location of your business. It could even say "I'm So-and-So, mother of three in Kalamazoo, Mi." It doesn't matter. What does matter is that this is where your link goes.

Once your link is published in all those About the Author boxes on all those different websites, search engines will start to see you. That means your PageRank will improve and you will begin to move up in search engine results. I've seen my results go nowhere but up since I started my campaign. When are you going to create your marketing department?

------------------ ARTICLE START ------------------

Whether you're starting a business, struggling to keep it afloat, or enjoying steady profits, a little marketing can go a long way toward growing your market share. I should know -- I've used article marketing to grow my business, and I've been amazed at the results.

Marketing yourself with articles is easy, but it does require a little time and effort. Spending an hour a day once or twice a week at your computer writing about your website, product or service can suddenly mean a huge influx of profits!

There are a few things to keep in mind when you write your articles. One of the most important things you can do for yourself when you start your marketing campaign is speaking to your market.

There are literally thousands of content sites on the Web that specialize in a particular area, and it's almost guaranteed that some of them are posting articles about the very things you do. Still other sites are divided into sections that allow visitors to search through headings and subheadings to find what they're looking for.

Since specialized newsletters, e-zines and content sites have already done this hard work collecting people interested in a particular topic, why would you want to go and rewrite the Constitution?

It's very important when you submit your article, whether through a service or using your own software program, you spec it accurately to represent what you're writing about. One day you may write about business management, and the next about keeping the books. Each of these articles will fall under the category of "business," but you have the option to further specify "management" on one and "accounting" on the other. These more detailed specs will allow people who are looking for advice on how to track their income and expenses a greater chance of finding your article among dozens of others.

You also need a catchy title. The title is the first thing a person sees when he or she looks at your article. The title will often be the link that a viewer will (or won't) click before she even sees your first paragraph. Think of your inbox. If you have 100 emails, how do you decide which to open first? You look at the title or subject line. The very same principle holds true in article marketing.

The third thing to remember is, writing is fun and you can do it! Everyone knows something about something, so the secret is writing about what you know. Many people fear the "blank-page" syndrome -- when they site down to write that little cursor just blinks at them accusingly and they quickly get up to do something more fun, like the laundry.

There are plenty of tips about how to get over these fears, but the most important thing is to just forget you're "doing a chore" and start by writing one paragraph describing your business. It's likely you'll be surprised how easy it is to keep going.

Do you have a website? Talk about how you started it. Do you offer freelance writing services? Tell readers about projects you've completed recently, and maybe give them pricing information.

When you start writing and submitting your work, once or twice a week, consistently over time you will see more visitors to your site. We all know that ultimately, that means more sales.

I struggled for many years to figure out the answer this very question: How can I get noticed on the Internet? Even in the mid-nineties, it seemed like everyone had beaten me to it. "Look for graphic designer in QUOTES," a helpful friend instructed me. Thanks a lot, buddy. That still didn't cut it.

Well, over the years I got lucky -- some would even say smart. I've taken control of my marketing campaign, and working at home has never been easier or more lucrative for me. I like to write one article a day, between 500 and 800 words, about my business, or a particularly interesting project I completed recently, even a great book I read that taught me how to make beautiful hanging pots of flowers for my house. That didn't have anything to do with graphic design, but it did have the one essential element that makes article marketing work: my hyperlink in my About the Author box.

Here's the deal: First you'll want to find a submission service that works within your budget. I don't even recommend messing with software at all. That stuff is too complex, they always want you to read the help file or the manual, and as soon as you open the box it's obsolete because the Internet is adding new content sites and newsletters every day.

I chose Article Marketer. They have several membership levels, a three-month, annual and lifetime, so you can choose to check it out for a quarter and see if it makes sense for you and then decide from there. They also have a very user-friendly interface that makes it super easy for me to use their "one-touch" submission service and off my article goes into cyberspace!

iSnare sells "distribution credits" to its authors. Submission to the site is free, but in order to have your article distributed, you must purchase these credits. It's $10 for five credits, $18 for 12, and $38 for 28 and so on. They distribute your articles to thousands of content sites, email lists and newsletters, and have gained a good reputation over time. They have good reviews from satisfied customers on their website.

ThePhantomWriters is another option. It's important to include the "The" in the title, however, unless you want writing tips for women and teachers, and articles about how to compose your dissertation.

ThePhantomWriters service operates on a sliding scale. It costs $35 to submit one article, and then the next three are $27.50 each, on down to $20 apiece for 10 articles. This is a little steep for my budget, so I moved on pretty quickly from Phantom.

In the end, the service you choose is a completely personal choice. You have to see what will fit into your budget, how many articles you plan to write, etc. What I can tell you is this: Try this method for a month, and see if you don't start getting hits on your website. When the month is up, do a search for your name on Google. You might be shocked by what you find. There's nothing better than searching for yourself and finding an article you might not even remember you wrote! Trust me, it's great.

You might already be an active marketer, but are you getting the optimal results for your efforts? If you aren't using articles to speak to a particular market or markets, you might be missing out on a whole slew of potential business.

Marketing yourself by writing short articles is the easiest, most cost-effective way to market and advertise a small business. Most multi-media advertising slots are way too expensive for the average small business owner, but article marketing is so effective and cheap it can suit almost any budget.

And to make it even easier and more productive, use an automated article distribution service to get your articles out to the widest possible audience. There are a few good ones out there, just do a search on "article distribution" and check out the first five or so.

Once you find the submission service you're most comfortable with, it's time to start honing your skills and making sure your writing is at its most effective. You can:

-- Read about your subject. Reading what others have written about your topic can give you new ideas and approaches to an old subject. Just be sure not to plagiarize!

-- Research and write articles that are outside your niche. Sometimes going out of your comfort zone can give you access to new knowledge and information, and you may find you enjoy writing about things other than your business all the time.

-- Target your audience. If you write about racing Formula One cars, you don't want to show up on a mailing list about beauty tips. Be sure you appropriately spec each of your articles to match a category, and even give it subcategories to target even more specialized audiences.

Writing articles is fun and challenging, and there are ways to make your writing campaigns more effective.

There are countless websites out there with writing tips and tricks, including PhantomWriters, with tips for women, teachers and ghostwriters. There's Article Marketer, with its AM University offering free articles and podcasts by successful online entrepreneurs. There's the Writer's Block website, with everything from explanations about grammar to what to avoid at all costs when writing.

Then of course, are the real books every writer should own, like Strunk & White's "The Elements of Style" and "On Writing Well" by William K. Zinsser.

The key to a successful marketing campaign is twofold: volume and quality. In order to really get noticed, you have to write more than one article. One piece will quickly get completely lost in the avalanche of information added to the Web every day.

Quality is also of utmost importance. The articles that get read all the way through in newsletters and mailing lists start with a great title, have a detailed introduction and a beginning, middle and end. They aren't too long, and they teach you something you didn't know when you started.

If you begin your campaign with these tips in mind, you will be an article marketing success, and you'll begin to see success in a concrete way, with better Page Rank, more traffic and higher sales.

Your prospects are inundated with an estimated 2400 to 3000 advertising messages each day. No wonder it's hard to get their attention. The old adage is true: "The squeaky wheel gets the grease."
For those to young to understand that old adage, it refers to when the settlers were crossing the wilderness in their covered wagons. The wheels to the wagons needed constantly greased to run smoothly. The only way the settler knew when to add grease was when the wheel squeaked. And to save time and the cost of the grease they only greased the wheel that squeaked. To get your prospect's attention amidst all your competition you must be the squeaky wheel.

Rule # 1 of contacting prospects:
Perfect Prospect: Of course you are going to greet and try your best to sell your products and services to every prospect that comes through your front door, (or gets in touch with you in any manner. But only attempt to do extra or as I like to say, marketing outside of my normal aggressive marketing plan, to your Perfect Prospect. Your Perfect Prospect is the prospect that you can make the most money from and is most apt to purchase your products and services. the prospect that needs your products and services to solve a problem for them, that you can market to with the least amount of cost (time and money).

For example an automobile sales professional will greet and try to sell to everyone that comes on the lot, but he is wasting his time if he continually contacts, by telephone, email, fax, etc a person he knows does not have the money or credit to purchase a automobile.

A simple exercise to determine your perfect prospect:
1.Make a list of every quality you want your customer/client to possess and any circumstances surrounding that customer/client (such as distance & time of travel). Make it as long and detailed as you can.

Here is a sample of the qualities your list might include. Customize the list for your particular type and size of business.

A. Age
B. Business type product/service
C. Income
D. Education
E. Place of business
F. Number of employees
G. Need for my
H. Ability to pay
I. Competition
J. Etc.
Make the list as long and exact as you can with at least 20 items

E. Now go back through your list and delete any qualities you feel are unrealistic for your targeted market.

Every time you vary from the list, which you will have to because sometimes your perfect prospect may not exist, you will have to work harder, spend more money, and enjoy working less with the prospect. But, the closer and more often you can stay to your perfect prospect the more profitable and happy you will be.

Rule # 2 of contacting prospects:
Contact your prospect with value: You can contact your prospect as often as you like, as long as you are giving them information that will improve their business or their live. 90% of what your prospect receives from you must be of value and not a sales pitch. Look for items in newspapers and magazines that will be of interest to them. Things about their industry, their competition and about them. Send holiday and personal greeting cards, cartoons about their interest, competition's advertisements and offers, your and other's newsletters, and tips that will help them solve their needs and problems. People are attracted to those they like, and they like those who help them and show concern for them.

Rule # 3 of contacting prospects:
Market to them until they Buy or until they Die: If they are your Perfect Prospect, it does not make sense to stop marketing to them. Once you start investing your money and time, keep investing, unless you discover you made a mistake and they are not your perfect prospect. And don't feel bad about yourself when that happens, because it will. You cannot be flawless in determining each prospect to be your Perfect Prospect.

Your prospects will not tell you to stop sending them information if the information is of value to them. And if they do tell you to stop, don't. Telephone them and ask them what type of materials or what specifically you can send them that will be of value to them.

And the # 4 rule of contacting prospects:
I know I said there were 3, but the 4th rule is Give them more than they expect: It is so competitive in today's markets that merely delivering what you promised is no longer enough. You must deliver more than the prospect expects.

It is not rocket science and it is not brain surgery. It is rather simple:
1. Perfect Prospect: Only attempt to market to your Perfect Prospect
2. Contact your prospect with value
3. Market to them until they Buy or until they Die
4. Give them more than they expect

One of the easiest ways of having a home business online, is through affiliate marketing. There are several companies with an online presence that are constantly looking for ways to get their name out and advertising can be effective as well as expensive. Companies are willing to spend money on advertising and are even more willing to spend that money on advertising that has proven to work. An advertisement in traditional sources such as newspaper, radio, television and on the internet can be expensive.

It is a cost that the advertiser hopes to recoup through increased sales of their merchandise or services. They are going to pay for the advertising space regardless of the return, even if they realize no sales from that ad. The only one benefiting from this process is the advertising venue. With affiliate marketing, you are telling them that you will place their ad on your website and only charge them if they make a sale.

The company designs the ad, you place it on your website and if a customer clicks on the ad and buys from them, you get paid the previously agreed upon commission. The company has an increase in sales, you get paid a commission for posting their ad. Everyone wins with affiliate marketing. However, how do you get people to your website? Many might ask why they should go through your site to get to another company when the only difference is in you getting the commission.

Marketing your website is the first step and today efforts are moving towards internet blogs to get people interested in what you or others have to say. A blog can attract visitors with the same interests as you and need a place in which to voice their opinion. Placing affiliate ads on your blog can increase awareness of those websites and if they pertain to information on your blog, can turn some of your visitors into customers.

There are several sites online which are basically portals to what they call shopping malls. A site that is nothing more than affiliate advertising where customers visit and can find what they are looking for, all under one roof, so to speak. Web surfers will take the time to seek out what they are looking for but there are many that prefer one place in which to find all their favorite stores.

In order to make serious money from affiliate marketing you have two choices. One is to become affiliated with very successful companies, which offer a high commission structure, or be come affiliated with several companies. Depending on the type of website and the amount of traffic you receive, will determine in which direction you should go in order to maximize your potential.

In an era in which labels are practically attached to anything, representing your business by a trademark can be best embodied by a well chosen blank label, which you can personalize according to your own necessities and wishes.

Whether you need a label for advertising purposes or simply for legal means, it is very important that you choose the proper label for your domain, or, if necessary, design your own by using a blank laser label. Also, it could be useful to know that labels can be obtained as a result of purchasing a template compatible with world wide recognized Office programs.

Labels (made by the company and sold everywhere) are very easy to use for companies because they provide a wide range of models and standard text-based tags that can later be printed either on simple paper sheets or on personalized letter headed paper. Furthermore, the above branded labels, and other, blank labels for self-printing are all self-adhesive, which reduces the time spent on applying such labels to the required documentation or products. If you require special postal coding of your outbound mail, what better way than to affix a self-adhesive blank laser label.

If your business requires a permanent supply of labels, you may purchase special software, which allows you to print labels at any time and place, without having to wait for the manufacturers to produce them for you. Naturally, there is a simple package that can be downloaded for free, but if you need a more complex solution, purchasing a copmpany software package will give you the chance of controlling your output and creating only the necessary number of labels, instead of having to place a minimum order that results in you having more labels than you need at a given time.

Blank laser labels are without doubt the proper choice for any company looking to impose their brand, and that require a flexuous demand of labels. This means that printing companies for example, due to their field of activity, can often find themselves in the position of working with labels that contain different and original text and in no case standard mottos. For them, blank laser labels appear to be the best solution for two reasons.

Firstly, blank laser labels are compatible with any printer, which makes them easy to use and non-dependent on any specific utensils. Secondly, blank laser labels can be purchased in stock, with large quantities directly from the producers and with significant money saving incentives.

Accordingly, ideal for mailings and company tags blank laser labels can be seen as one of the most effective office supplies that can make your company stand apart from your competitors. And if you choose to process these labels or just hand the work to manufacturers or associate offices, there can be no doubt time will be saved, the results will improve, and your bottom line will benefit in the long run.

You've probably heard the old saying - I know that half of my advertising dollars are wasted, if I only knew which half! Although it's not possible to know all the factors that go into effective advertising, there are a few elements that are crucial to an ad campaign that is profitable. If you strive to achieve as many of the following 7 factors as possible, you can be confident that you'll have a winning campaign.

1) Choose an appropriate medium to convey your message. This is so obvious, but you'd be amazed at how many people don't use common sense when buying media. If you're trying to reach a 14 year old, don't buy an ad in the daily paper - buy the radio station that plays hip hop music! Try to target your advertising as much as possible. Think about the person you're trying to reach with your message. The more you know about that person, the easier this will be.

If you're selling clothing to working women, buying TV is probably not a good idea. They're probably so busy doing household chores and taking kids to various activities, they probably don't have time to watch much TV. But billboards and radio are great because she's probably on the road a lot and those media fit for that audience.

2) Don't believe that everyone uses media the way you or your spouse does. Just because you don't like a certain program on TV doesn't mean that your potential customer doesn't like it - they may be big fans and never miss an episode.

Don't assume that everyone reads the newspaper because everyone you know does. Ask for information about the medium's audience - let your rep show you exactly who is watching/reading/listening/driving by/surfing their medium.

3) Don't judge the price of the ad by the dollar amount alone. Just because an ad is expensive doesn't mean it isn't a good buy - and the opposite is true also. If an ad is cheap, but no one reads or sees it, it's worthless to you. If an ad is reaching tens of thousands of people for $1,000, it might be a good buy if those are the people who are in the market for your product.

Try to gauge the real value of an ad by the cost per thousand or cost per rating point (for TV, radio & cable). If you're not familiar with those terms, ask your ad rep - they will be happy to fill you in. (And if they aren't, find a new rep.)

4) Develop a relationship with your customers and prospects. This is another thing that should be obvious, but very few companies actually do this. Proctor and Gamble has found that this is what makes them money. And it makes sense. If people trust your brand and feel that they know your company, they're far more likely to buy your products. This is actually easier to do as a smaller business than a large one - and many local businesses have done this for years.

It may be schmaltzy, but when the local furniture store owner is on camera for all his TV commercials, people develop a relationship of sorts with him or her. They feel like they know that business. Anytime you can link a personality - even if it's not a celebrity - to a business, that makes that business stand out. This is an important element that there's not nearly enough room to cover - so think this one through for your business and come up with ways (and they can be very simple) to develop a relationship with your customers and prospects. An email newsletter is a simple, cheap and very effective way to do this, by the way.

5) Have a hook. Give people something that makes them remember you. Big companies spend millions on this - and for a good reason - it sells stuff. Whatever you do, don't say "for the best in service and quality" - no one will believe you! If you want to convey that message, have one of your customers give a testimonial on camera - have them describe how you provided them with great service and quality. Give details.

A hook needs to be simple, memorable and if possible, fun or heartwarming. The Taco Bell Chihuahua is a good example - the Pillsbury Doughboy is another one. Do something different and let people know about it. Give them a reason to choose your company over your competitors.

6) Be relevant. Talk to your prospects in your advertising - let them know that you feel their pain and are going to help them make it go away. If you're talking about something they can't relate to, they'll ignore you. There are way too many advertising messages in the world today - and people have learned to tune them out unless they click with something that is important to them. You know how this works - you do the same thing.

If you're sick of how your car is nickel & dimming you lately, you suddenly are much more aware of ads for cars. Find out why people buy your product and talk about how you will give that to them. It's really pretty simple - but an overwhelming majority of businesses totally miss this.

7) Make sure you know what you're trying to get your prospect to do. Do you want them to come to your store and buy a specific product? Or do you want them to call your business to get an estimate on a project so your sales person can close the sale in person? The more specific you are in your call to action (please make sure to include one!), the more likely your audience will do what you want them to do.

All of the elements that go into your advertising - the media, the creative, the copywriting, the call to action - create a synergistic result. The more focused you are with any of those elements, the better your results will be. It's always crucial to measure your ad results. Determine what you want to achieve and include devices that will allow you to determine whether or not you achieved your goal. Then you can tweak results from there.
